    Bregman Update

    Bregman went 1-5 with an RBI double.

    The better news gleaned from the box-score is:

    Started at 3B rather than DH.

    Drew a BB.

    This might be reaching, but it's a great step back towards normal Bregman. And normal Bregman is who we need back, not June Bregman.

    I would like more clarification on this if somebody knows, too. I feel like I've heard on an Astros broadcast recently that you couldn't replace a player who has been suspended, though I may be misremembering. But in the case of Ramon Laureano being suspended, I'm sure the A's wouldn't be playing with one less roster spot for the next 80 games. Anyone knows how this works or knows where to look?

    That's the rule if they find sticky stuff. But that's a 10 day suspension. The mechanics of serving the suspension and the roster consequences if the suspended player goes on IL-10 or IR-60 because of a sticky suspension is something I have not seen explained.

    I suspect they would be treated separately with a ten day roster spot suspension served immediately by the team and a player serving his 10 day suspension after being added back to the 40 man. But you never know the quirks.

    Why the **** on what planet would he be suspended by the Astros?

    It's a 2 game MLB suspension for allegedly throwing at a Mariner. He appealed, it was downgraded from 3 games to 2, he started serving it last night (or Friday?). You cannot replace a player on behavior suspension, so the team, last night and today (or was it Friday/Saturday?), will be playing a man short.

    BREGMAN - It's good to see they are addressing the timing and pitch recognition issues before bringing him back to the MLB active roster. It's all part of the Rehab and it's a good thing they aren't rushing him back too soon.

    He's always been a slow starter, and Diaz's defense has not been as *** awful as it was last year. As long as Baker doesn't schedule rest too often...
