[Iko] If the Rockets don't get a top 3 pick, they're definitely trading it.

Yup. Bottom 3 has the exact same odds at a top 3 pick.

The main difference is you can potentially land at 6 if you're the second worst, 7th if you're the third worst, etc. Only major advantage of being the absolute worst team is that the lowest you can land is at #5.

Big old told ya so from me.

Been saying for months that top pick is all that matters and if not Wemby, might as well move it.

Package the pick to Toronto for OG or Siakam

In a perfect, chronic injury-free world with no contract concerns I'd be shipping the non-Wemby top pick out for Lonzo ... imagine a team with actual half-court sets on both sides of the ball.

Maybe we're trading the pick to move up in the draft.
We got ammo to do it.

If we can get our hands on the Canadian Colossus Zach Edey - I'll allow it

Maybe, but I'm guessing there would be a huge premium to pay. This is a top 3 heavy draft. And I'm not forfeiting a ton of future picks unless it's for Wemby.

And it would be interesting whom they give the max and how players respond to it by playing after getting it.

For the normal Joe yeah, like most of the NBA and favorite team stuff, is more or less just entertainment.

For the front office, you have to calibrate...

What are you going to do with the 1st-3rd pick?

What are you going to do with 4th, 5th pick?

And what do you do with the worst case scenario.....

Only with the worst record you can't drop past 5th pick.

I'm pretty sure if the Rockets don't get a top-2 pick, they will trade up for one. I wouldn't be surprised if they even traded up after getting the 2nd pick. I think 4-5 1sts should be able to even get us from the 5th pick to a top pick. We got plenty of picks in the next 2-3 years to make that happen. Unless the owner thinks we should pray for Wemby, but not trade for him.

I do like him, but for me it is Wemby or bust......if we have to take someone at 2, it should be Miller...IMHO.....but if we take Scoot, hope he is as good as others think he is...

Nobody's trading away Wemby, IMO. Not even for 4 future picks. Would just be a death sentence for any GM's job who does that if they're wrong, and the odds of them being wrong are too high.

There's a little more chance of being able to trade up for Scoot given some of the skepticism we've been hearing about lately. Still a pretty hard deal to get done though, I think. That's an interesting thought, though. Would you give up, for example, the Clippers pick, the #4 pick, and next season's Brooklyn pick to trade up to #2?

Yeah, that's what I don't get. Why would we hand away a top draft pick when we can add talent through free agency with our cap space? Makes no sense unless the Rockets know something we don't and a superstar is going to be available through trade.
