If you don’t think Amen is elite, if you can’t see that his trajectory is SUPERSTAR, I don’t trust your evaluation skills…

Underrated in what sense? Is he even the 15th best point guard in the nba?

These guys are for sure better.
    Curry
    Luka
    Dame
    Fox
    SGA
    Maxey
    Brunson
    Garland
    Halliburton
    Cade
    Trae
    lamelo
    Harden
    Ja
    Kyrie

I'd take Jrue and Amen over him.

he is literally the definition of mediocre. If he didn't play with Jokic his numbers would be significantly worse. He isn't an elite athlete that I would trust to get a good look. Everything with him is a system. There is a reason he's never been an all star. And now he's just severely over paid just like MPJ and Aaron Gordon,

Are all those guys really for-sure better than Murray? I think he's in the same neighborhood as about half of that list.

In recent years he's averaged an extra assist and extra rebound per game when Jokic is off the floor. So 21/7/5 on 58% true shooting. I don't know how you define "mediocre" but that, to me, is not mediocre. That's a damn good point guard. I don't really care to argue about specific player rankings, but for me there are basically two obvious groups here: Luka, SGA, Curry, then everybody else. Murray is somewhere in that second group.

It's very possible my evaluation skills suck (probably does suck) but I still need to see him develop into a respectable 3-point shooter. I'm not saying he won't be effective without shooting (because he already is) but if we're talking about like top 3, 4 players in the league one day, I don't think he can be a non-factor from the long range.

Undoubtedly Amen is a major cog but this reminds me of Sengoon going out last year and the team went on a longer winning streak .......the weaker competition helped.

Neither was Magic Johnson. How about Giannis? I think he is a superstar, does anybody disagree?

That is why you put shooters around them, sometimes those shooters are good, sometimes they do not work.

In Giannis' case, he would have fared even better if he were a more finesse player who could shoot at least one lick.

I don't think Amen can be a superstar, as in a top 5, all-NBA 1st team guy, without a 3P shot, but I think he can be an all-star. Maybe even a top 15 player. He doesn't have the size of guys like Giannis or Hakeem so it's going to be harder to get to that hyper-elite level than it is/was for those players without being able to shoot--especially in today's NBA, which is less favorable for non-shooters than it was even 5 years ago.

I believe he will develop a passable jump shot though. All the signs and trends are favorable. Once that happens, the league better watch out.

“Guess that's what's happens when someone's scoring, throwing dimes, doing the whole thing,” Herro said. I'd get mad, too.

The Rockets is playing in Miami on 3/21, 13 days after the injury. He's going to be back for that game.

But he was a 7 foot interior menace around whom the pass-from-the-post 3 point game was perfected. Is Amen going to be point-center?

I think Amen is a developing star, just being devil's advocate because that's a bit silly.

Which way do you see forward for Amen? Giannis is obviously a superstar, and while he doesn't have a 3 ball, he is able to dominate inside with his size and athleticism. Do you think Amen can be a guy who scores ~30 ppg without being able to shoot? Is that doable at his size? Or maybe he could go the Magic route where he doesn't need to score 30. Do you think Amen can be the type of guy to average double digit assists for his entire prime? Magic Johnson averaged ~12 assists per game for 8 years in a row. Can Amen do something like that? Can he be a floor general in the half court?

I'm not doubting any of this necessarily, I'm just curious what vision y'all have for MVP candidate Amen Thompson.

I said Magic was his comp from the first time I saw him play. I also think he will develop an outside shot, but I don’t think his a 30 point average guy, but I do think he will be a 20/10/10 machine and first team all-defense most every year.

And the game is on a Friday. I don't like watching games at bars, but I might have to make an exception for this one.

To my Austin folks, Lavaca Street still the best spot for Hou sports?
