Dad's place has similar damage to yours, trees mostly, 'cept one of the limbs ripped his connection point to the power line right off (in LJ). Their church had no damage, but the church down the street has walls down, and trees inside it now. Do you know Bingo in Surfside? His place is gone.
I'm back. They cut the power back on at my fiancee's apt on Sunday (I knew I asked the right woman), and I got my power back today. I still have no internet and cable, but she does.
i hate you! next street has power and my street still doesn't have power...well that was of 8pm yesterday. Gonna go after work and see if it's back on.
Got our power on last night, cable and internet were up too. It was almost 96hrs of no power for me. First few days were ok....starting getting real old yesterday...thankgod we got power now though.
Lost power 6:30PM Friday night and still without it. I've been coming over to my folk's place to charge the cellphone, steal ice & surf the net every morning. The zipcode map on Centerpoint's website says my entire zipcode (77096) is down. Judging from the downed power lines, it looks like it might take a while. I lost two trees, one of which was banging up against the back of the house all night during the storm. My yard crew made it out this morning and cleaned everything up...got a 9 ft tall mountain of debris on the front curb. Work is open and I might go in tomorrow, but I am wary about leaving my house with no electricity and no burglar alarm. Come on Centerpoint...gimme the juice!!!!!
still no power for us...man, it's been 4 days already, and people are getting sick, cuz people taking shower with cold water..
Taking a cold shower will not make you sick, especially when you live somewhere that is as hot as Houston.
I live in Houston. I've also lived other places where it really gets cold. The high 50's is not cold and will not make you sick.
i'm not saying I will get sick.. "people" are referred to ohers... people live in my neighborhood are elders, they're like 70-80 year old.. u want them to take cold shower ?? cold weather does not make you sick definately, but taking a cold shower is another thing....
just got power back last night about midnight, still no cable or internet got lots of work ahead to get both my personal and business back running. LAWL @ cold shower = sick Took one a day or so back and am still healthy as normal....thats a bunch of hooey. WHat do you think people did back in the day before hot water heaters? they took cold baths...or at least just tepid baths.
Lost power around 230am on Saturday.. Luckily it was back on around 6pm. Stafford area here!! Back at work today finally... Left husband awake while i slept through alot of IKE!

Lost power on Friday night 7:30pm, finally after 5 arduous days it returned last night just before 6:30pm. Got my DSL up and running this afternoon. Prayers for the rest of the folks around town/surrounding area who have it and have had it worse than I.
Mo City. 77459. Lost power 11:30 pm on Friday. Got it back yesterday afternoon. Got telephone, cable and internet service back from Comcast about 1 hour ago. I feel very bad for people who still don't have power. It's good to be back. I hated ready the forums on my slow as molasses Blackberry.

alot of streets in my neighborhood still do not have lights, so i do feel fortunate. comcast still dead. im going to have to call Marc Vandermeer and tell him my cable and internet is down. still on a verizon card.
