I'm glad i'm in S.A. i'm hoping on staying here until my house gets power. It only took us 5 dang hours to get here Thursday night. I hope everyone is okay and everyone's houses aren't damaged too bad.
Rode out the storm, house survived with no immediately apparent damage (could be minor damage on the roof from branches). But with no power and facing 90+ degrees tomm, wife and I choose to head over to Austin (family, friends). Get in our NFL sunday and will hopefully see power restored before returning on Monday. Evan
I'm fine here in Katy. No internet or cable but that's the least of my worries. My aunt from Clear Lake suffered major damages to her home. There are holes in her roof and water damage inside her house. I tried calling some friends to see if they're ok but couldn't get ahold of them. Hope they're ok. "
Checking in from Pearland. It is really bad here. I had to drive to the medical center and back today and it did not look pretty. Power poles and power lines are down everywhere, power cables hanging everywhere, there was no power at all in the city so all the traffic lights are out (those that remained hanging). Lots of damage to businesses. The gas stations here look really messed up, the roof that goes over the pump at the Citgo near our house fell down. As far as our house..I think we got lucky. I picked up some roof shingles today but I do not see any bare spots on the roof ... I think some shingles maybe loose up there so that needs to be looked at. A small tree uprooted in our driveway. Our backyard fence disappeared. Up until right now there was no power and I am surprised that it actually came back on since our neighborhood is completely surrounded by broken power cables and power lines. We are pretty close to both the police station and the fire station though so that maybe we why we have power now. Hope everyone else is ok.
i went to my parents house in spring. nothing too bad there, lots of limbs and crap to pick up. friend's house down the street had a pine tree fall and it fell across the front of their house and almost hit the neighbor's house. was just short enough that only the leaves and limbs on top hit the corner of their house, trunk just barely missed. had some fun helping to clean that up so they could get cars out of the driveway. now i'm back by the med center since my friend in the next apartment complex over let me know we had power over here.
Checking.in from Timbergrove (77008, just West of the Heights). Still no power. While it.was raining this morning, the street flooded and our toilets wouldn't flush. Bu the water has gone down and they're flushing.now. Spent all day yesterday clearing out debris from my yard, my neighbor's yard, and two neighbor's yards across the street (they're seniors, and there's no way they could've done it). I've got a DC inverter, so we've got a fan, dvd player, nintendo DS, etc. I've gotta go up to Tomball and help my father-in-law take down his plywood.
Pearland here. We got power around 11:45 P.M. last night. I haven't driven around too much, just with my brother to check on his apartment, but what we did see was a mess. I'm really hoping that we don't have to go to work tomorrow, but I have a feeling they're going to compel us to come anyway. It just doesn't seem safe yet, what with all the debris and power lines in the middle of roads. Our house didn't suffer any major damage, but our yard is a disaster as I'm sure most everyone's is. All in all, I think we made out pretty good, but it's going to take forever to clean everything up. I hope everyone else made out okay.
I just talked to my grandmother...she lives in Timbergrove as well (Grovewood). She said it was the worst she'd seen in her 50 + years of living in the neighborhood. She filled up some containers with run off water from the roof so she can flush her toilet, and there's flooding in one of the bedrooms. I was there during Alicia...she said it was WAY worse and I remember power was gone at least two weeks. But having said that...I have some relatives in the Crystal Beach area. No idea where they are, but I don't really keep in touch (we aren't that close) but it looks like it isn't there any more.
Still alive and kicking. Storm came through and did alot of damage to my apartment complex (Heights and Washington) and suprisingly the electricity, water, and internet all works well! The storm knocked em out for less than 5 minutes. I wish something was open!
Alive, yes. But still no power or water. Finally came to a friends near the Galleria. Shes had power since 6pm yesterday...
just got back in Clear Lake from SA saturday afternoon. it looks like a war zone here with bent poles and trees fallen everywhere. part of the tree in our front yard snapped and it's hanging by a thread. part of the roof got blown off so a lot of water is leaking in. had to move all the furniture out and place buckets everywhere to catch the leaks :/ we were going to stay in a hotel since there was no power at all, but we just got power back 20 mins ago
Still alive although we lost half the roof, all the trees and my parents still don't have power. I came home to check and everything is working 'cept my damn TV's. Oh this AC feels so good. So does running water. I haven't showered since Friday and have gotten MAYBE a total of 8 hours sleep since Friday. Work tomorrow is gonna suck. Terrifying night. I'd rather no go through an eyewall again thank you.
dude this sucks, no water and no electricity. freakin u of h just declared that there wont be no school on monday or i woulda gone somewhere else. i didnt go coz i was supposed to have an exam on monday and assignment due on tuesday. im gonna be soo pisssssed if i find out there's no school on tuesday as well.. all my efforts and hard work in vain!
I relocated from The Heights to Deer Park because my parents have power/internet restored and I'm still without power and water at my place. The damage around town is much higher than I expected to see.
Checking in from Chicago. It's miserable up here, but I'm safe. I'm going back to Texas tommorrow (if Hobby remains closed, I'll go to Dallas and have my parents pick me up), and will try make my way into Jefferson County and check on my house. My company has told me to expect my plant to be without power for 4 weeks, so I will go to New Orleans to work as soon as my house is secure.
