Can you imagine trying to bail now in a car on the island and you can't get to the bridge because all the roads are flooded? I don't think it's that bad yet but I think it will be soon. Then you're really jacked - out in the elements - and you may not live to tell your story.
The pictures of Galveston and Freeport are amazing considering that the storm is still hours away. The storm surge is simply awesome! Awesome as in (adjective) - inspiring awe not as in "very cool". awe - (noun) an emotion variously combining dread, veneration, and wonder that is inspired by authority or by the sacred or sublime
Screw your boss. That's not a valid reason to fire somebody, you could file a civil suit against the company. The winds still aren't that strong right now. The winds still aren't strong enough to cause you to lose control.
I just came in from outside but earlier this morning they interviewed a guy who drove through water that came up to his hood and he just barely made it out of the east end of the island. Mango, just watch KPRC. They have a lady there and Kemah & Seabrook were getting really bad already. The city and the Kemah boardwalk are gonna be in bad shape I think. Basically for anyone still wondering: Anything close to the bay or the coast is in very bad shape. I'm still having trouble imagining how the water could be so high already with the eye so far away.
I'm starting to get concerned about my parents in The Woodlands. If the path holds true, they should be on the east side of the eye tomorrow morning. I've tried a couple of times to get them to come to Austin, but they said they're fine. My idiot brother is staying at his place in the Heights.
your brother and parents will be fine. Cat 2 storm is no joke, with serious winds, but easily and definitely survivable. The government is suggesting they stay put. if you've been watching the news this morning, you should know by now the biggest risk is the storm surge, followed thereafter probably by freak tree falls, excessive raining, etc. Woodlands will definitely be okay. Heights should be fine, just keep an eye on any weak trees. I'm just west of the Heights and that's really my only major concern.
some people seem to enjoy attacking people's person lives on this board. Not that I'm singling out v3.0 or anything. "oops"
