ABC has a good live video feed now. I am watching it while sitting in biochem lecture listening to my moronic prof.
Dude. Put this into perspective: if all of H-town gets eff'd, ya'll get eff'd BEFORE H-town. I'm in KATY. WAY past the 100 miles of the width of the storm. Remember what this guy told the helicopter pilot? Spoiler "Get Out." http://maps.google.com - there is now a SURGE simulator. They have 10ft and 3 ft areas for simulation, but you can play around with the numbers to simulate. They use land elevation to know.
OK.. I didn't want to do this... but I'm evacing to Beaumont to be with my family. then we're headed to Mississippi. be safe everyone.
Be safe. We left for Alabama yesterday. The traffic was not bad at all except for a stretch in Baton Rouge where traffic is always bad.
Please stop calling me dude. We've made our decision to stay, and like I said, I think we will be okay. We are not in a mandatory evacuation zone. We have every window boarded up. We have a power generator. We have our downstairs closet set up as a shelter. We've made all the preparations we can.
NASA pictures of Ike http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/station/multimedia/hurr_ike091008.html Hi-Res pictures on the site are pretty frightening.
I don't know if those photos are outdated but what does the eye not being visible mean for the hurricane? Losing intensity? Slowing down?
Take a chill pill. If you think running away from high winds and a possible power outage is the thing to do, fine. Most of us don't.
C zone is not under mandatory evacuation. I'm in C (Friendswood side of Pearland), and I'm staying put. I'm close to 50 feet above mean sea level.
I'm at i45 and little york. We are headin out. Everyones freakin out. I don't wanna leave but I also don't my family seperated. Guess we are headin out. See you guys later.
Did you guys hear what NOAA had to say about the storm surge from this hurricane? They issued an "official" warning that anyone who lives near the coast and does not evacuate, they will face "certain death." I seriously hope that some of you storm-riders, especially near the coast, take this warning and storm seriously.
They keep showing my house in Jamaica Beach. 3' high and rising. Dune's gone, yard's gone ....man, I planted the beachside yard with 419 fairway grass so we could have chipping contests at beer-thirty.
