I need to go get some sleep because I have a feeling I won't be getting any tomorrow night. Hopefully I wake up in the morning and this thing has shifted to Florida.
Tornadoes in hurricanes usually occur in the northwest quadrent relative to the direction of motion (front-right). So if you are in that area - take extra precaution. You want to stay in the lowest, most central part of your house. That is, away from windows and the strongest part of your home. In that room, if you can have some sturdy tables you can get under, that would be ideal. Make sure you have some blankets and candles, and a radio with batteries so you can listen into news. Figure out what channel is NOAA radio - and tune to that beforehand - they will mention tornado's as they form and are tracked. The room you are in shouldn't have anything that could turn into a projectile missle (glass, sharp objects, books, etc...).
I have a question to anyone who lives up in the Woodlands area. I am stayin at a hotel around here and am wondering if there are any shops over here that will be open. I know that Woodlands mall is closed tomorrow (bad move on their part as they miss on revenue from evacuees). Does any1 know bout any other area thats a good shopping place?
people who work at the mall are people too, they may want to evacuate...you're not going to find anything open

if you have a basement or storm cellar.. you can "prepare" yourself for the possibility of tornadoes by spending the night of the Hurricane in there.. obviously.. not if you're in a low lying area.. other than that.. it's one of those "when it happens" type of situations.. just haul your arse into your inner most room.. close/bathroom etc..
Hombre if it hits Surfside it hits Freeport. Surfside is located right underneath unincorparted Freeport.
yeah i realized that. had my geography and texas coast knowledge messed up. LOL but yes, i predict it SOMEWHERE to the west of galveston or on western galveston island.
we understand you have said it will not be a big deal since the beginning. Let's hope that you are correct. hopefully acknowledging that you guessed correctly will slow down your worthless posts in this thread
I think astros148 and HombreDeHierro are like twins from opposite dimensions. One is always boasting that nothing will happen while the other thinks (and seems to be hoping that) H-town is going to get rocked. We'll see what happens. There can be only one.
we're getting our info from different sources...all the main media outlets are saying its trending east and weakening while the forum im visiting and my inner sense tells me its not over.
