I'm thinking the north track too but with this model run 3 bring Ike right through Mo City and 3 don't.
You know that if Bobby Jindal had come out and told people to go to Beaumont and then the storm did something like actually go to Beaumont and people died, his head would have been on a platter. For people who are elected to positions of authority, they can't take gambles like that.
In all seriousness, they are building a new house right next door to mine, and there is a Port-P-Potty right next to my front lawn. I'm assuming I should move it...with all these reports about the strong winds??
why is everyone trying to say this storm is going to be a cat3 or 4 seriously? The storm hasnt increased at all in the past 12 hours, the director of national hurricane said its most likely it'll stay at a Cat2 and many other experts say its going to remain a cat2. Stop scaring everyone.
I was thinking about moving it as well...but I'm going to have to find some help. Especially if the winds are going to be blowing from the SE....that would put it right in my front yard.
Yeah...because everytime he has a chat, it's filled with people from Spring asking if they should evacuate. I do enjoy reading his blogs during this time of year. He does a good job of giving insight without subscribing to all the hype.
That chron guy says it might not even hit landfall as a major hurricane, according to the latest computer models
I think that they (the "experts") are referring to the fact that the storm will be passing through an area of the Gulf tomorrow that is very ripe for intensifying. Check out Dr. Masters' blog at: http://www.wunderground.com Besides...giving any indication that the storm might not be as powerful as once thought may cause folks to let their guard down somewhat.
you realize all they're doing is parroting the national weather service forecast, right? that's what the forecast still calls for. it very easily could change.
Guys on KHOU are betting on a Eastward swing in the track with the new model data at 10, so we'll see. Hitting slightly East of Galveston really help out most of the Houston area.
Historically speaking, which news station has been the best with predicting this stuff. The guys on KHOU just put out a flood warning for their viewing area.....
I'm glad they're being overcautious, and I don't mean to take this lightly since my parents are worried, but this headline on CNN.com still kind of made me mildly amused: Officials warn of 'certain death' in face of Ike CERTAIN DEATH! CERTAIN DEATH! CERTAIN DEATH!
I'm getting all gloomy over the fact that Galveston might not be Galveston anymore after Ike passes through.
