Not definite on Corpus being spared yet, but it looks favorable. Are you going to book through normal channels or going to see if there will be rooms at a discount because of probable last minute cancellations by others?
I'm sorry but i want this to hit east of us. I'm really scared of the potential of tornadoes. It has been 4 years since I rode a category 2 out. You guys better not get drunk tomorrow night and be dumb to go outside during the storm!
if it makes you feel any better...and it won't...i think it will be cat 3 at landfall. billingsley thinks it will be 110 mph winds reported at the 10 pm update because the hurricane hunters are finding stronger winds in the 130-140 range at flight level.
Personally, I would feel safer in Victoria than Corpus Christi. Victoria is much closer inland. Maybe I am overly cautious, but it seems like the storm surge will go far along the coast.
I'm in SA right now but i'm coming back tomorrow to houston. I feel too guilty being here while my family is back in Houston. I'd rather ride out the storm with them than be here. At least I'm sure the traffic will easy on the way back to Houston
That's why i'm trying to tell my parents and sister to come and stay with us in NW, they're in SE Houston about 40 miles from Galveston. I would assume we're much better off than being in SE, right?
Single handedly? OMG! What, do other hurricanes sometimes TEAM UP and churn up the entire gulf? Still in Katy. It's eerie because it's calm.
This threat isn't letting me get any work done; can't read, study, draw, or think about anything else. It's a day away!

I'm completlely terrified and also excited of my first and probably only direct hit hurricane I will experience tomorrow night... It's almost like the hurricane read this thread a week ago and said, "Houston? Why the hell not"?
we're getting nailed, no way around it... only hope is that it continues to head NE and spares most of houston the dirty side. unfortunately that's not looking to likely at this point. but we'll be riding it out from uptown.
no wehre did they say they found 110MPH winds, they spoke to the director of the hurricane center and he said they dont expect it to be a Cat3 and most likely a cat2.
if it comes in further south...say at freeport...that's a reallly realllly bad day for houston and west houston in particular.
While Victoria is further inland, it's also almost 90 miles closer to Houston than Corpus is. I'm just thinking that if the storm continues on it's current path (steering away from Corpus), that they'd be unlikely to experience much storm surge that far south. I'm not expert though, so could definitely use some reassurances from those of you who follow this stuff more closely than I do.
I didn't say they found them...I said Billingsley said he thought they'd be 110 by the 10 p.m. update.
Ah, grasshopper... You forget the "noonan" that is inside of you. Only when you know it, will you feel it.
