Well, Frank Billingsly was just on with his update. He sees all the North (or East) shifts in the tracks, but still thinks it'll come in somewhere around Matagorda. He's been pretty good with his gut so far this year, he was dead on with Gustav a few days out, so I don't know.
If it has to come, then couldn't it have come during mid-week. I hope it stalls for a few days. Then, maybe a lot of us can miss work due to weather. Of course, I'm in North Texas so I probably won't be missing any work...unless it is coming down in buckets and streets are flooding.
My boss told me that (I'm in San Antonio) that even if there's a category 1 hurricane I'm still responsible for coming into work on Saturday. I am prepared to get fired on principal.
Lots of jokes in this thread, but on a more serious note, my grandparents are in Angleton and my grandmother is handicapped and my grandfather's eyes are too bad to drive so they are stuck. I'm currently in El Paso and thinking about driving in to stay with them and take care of them during the storm. Will I even be able to make it to Angleton if I leave late tonight? Will they have the highways all going the same direction? Any help would be appreciated.
southwest Louisiana wasn't effected by Gustav. and majority of SW LA. is recovered from Rita, but another major hurricane to the coast and the wildlife that SW LA. depends on will be devastated.
Hop on SWA my friend. Good luck either way. It's about a 12 hour drive, but you lose an hour. Take off now and you'd probably get there around 7:00am.
When is UT FOotball going to announce their decision on the game? I would like to know by Tommorow morning so that I can plan my weekend!
That wobble saved my house. Meant the difference between 100 mph winds coming from the open North end of my house instead of 100mph winds coming from the tree lined south of my house.
My family in Brazoria County has been told to leave... the friends I have in Freeport were told the mandatory evacuation began this morning at 10 AM. The eye may pass over the Bay City / Van Vleck / Sweeny area... with landfall near Sargeant. If you live along 288 South... GET TO THE CHOPPA!
