The extended track has shifted significantly... it will be in Texarkana late tonight. I can't see it speeding up that much... but that's what the Dallas weather is saying. You guys down south (directly in this beast) hang in there. tv links: http://www.maroonspoon.com/wx/ike.html
I'm really worried now since the back fence is down and there's all the small/medium trees facing my house...hoping that nothing will become a missile into my house. I have a water leak in my restroom. I'm so hungry too but scared to get up and walk around. BTW, I'm on my Tmobile sidekick. Any ideas when this will let up?
Update from my neighborhood(west of the Heights); Lost power at 4:30 am. Sending this from my blackberry. Two very large tree branches have fallen into our driveway, narrowly missing our house (or they bounced off our roof). Neighbor's fence behind us is down. Strong wind and rain still upon us. But no flooding in the house and no damage to the house (as far.as I can tell). Kids are sleeping through it. Wife won't give me hurricane sex - she's too nervous. I'm hungry.
Around 8 AM - Noon... depending on slowing or speeding up... Galveston still getting hammered... Storm still a Cat 2 w/100 winds. The eye is near IAH.
Oh - hey If you're on a mobile device, http://www.khou.com has an animated view of Ike that is friendly to mobile devices.
Props to all of you braving this out- I'm way out of the way of the storm in West Texas but the entire family's in Houston, plus it was home for 18 years- I ain't getting no sleep out of worry- but I called and they're OK. Hang in there for a little while longer- let's hope this ends as soon as possible and that you all have as little damage as possible. Mainly, hope for as much human survival as possible for our Houston and Texas brethren and sistren.
I am posting this from my cell. I am so totally over Ike. Wind gusts have finally started to diminish in the last few minutes here in the Heights. Far less freaky or maybe I've just gotten used to it. Here's to the daylight that is coming soon.
Humble is now in the eye... Confirmed at least 3' of water in Galveston County courthouse. "another couple hours" -Dr. Frank

Off of main and westridge right by the reliant. No power. hearthwood complex is flooded so no going in or out. water system is horrible here and my ceilng is leaking. Thank god I came back or else my whole bed room would be swimming. I know it's materialistic but I was able to save my PC monitors ps3 and stereo surround system so far. Using internet off my phone. PHone is running low so using the laptop battery to charge it. Might have to make a run to the car to charge it via cigarette lighter. sun is coming up so we're out of darkness for the most part. I should have remembered the ceiling leaking back from allison. I'm such an idiot for forgetting
I'm checking out some of the other units here and the ones with windows facing the north got their windows blown out EVEN THOUGH THEY WERE BOARDED!! I'm thinking either some debris must have flown that way but the unit is on the 3rd floor. amazing. Thank god my unit is perpendicular to the wind and protected by the other buldings. If the wind starts going west I might be ****ed.
Watching CNN here from NYC and it looks like Brennan's is on fire, or the building next to it. Edit: Brennan's is completely destroyed.
Just got up here in Manvel (288 south/ highway 6) 77578, roof is soak, water's coming down, have pans out to catch the water My backyard fence is down, my neighbors across the street is down along with a few exotic trees they "had". Power is still down. Who knows when that's coming back up And yes the winds/rain is still going at it, but not as hard as it was 3 hours ago EDIT: just looked out in the front of the house, some of the roof coverings flew off which explains the leaks coming down on the second floor
Wow, they just showed pics of the JP Morgan building in Houston. I wonder what the damage to that building alone is.
