DaDa you are correct in saying that the surge could have been a bit worse for Galveston had the storm come in right around freeport or san luis pass. But to say that Galveston Bay will miss the surge sounds like some a-hole from Austin who just jumped into the thread to offer some bogus information. It could be a bit worse, but the surge is awful, the seawall will be breached, the ship channel will see hell and we will all see 6 dollar gas prices.
I am from Baytown grew up in Lakewood, if you read the thread you would have seen my story about Alicia and Brownwood, furthermore, my brother and his family are there riding out the storm...if the storm moves east...I am happy.... I did my Hurricane riding in 1983 in Alicia... DD
no Lakewood is right on the San Jacinto river where it meets the Ship Channel, it is the second subdivision in that area of Baytown to be reclaimed by Mother NAture I am in the high part of Baytown, near Garth Rd and Baker...about a mile south of 10. nothing much going on here except high winds and some sideways rain. Cable and internet is out, power flucuates but is currently on. EDIT :nm, I see you are more than familiar with the area.
Lamest hurricane ever. And I was here during Alicia. This will still take an easterly turn and nail Beaumont. EDIT: Damnit... I keep forgetting whose computer I'm on. This is Fatty.
Power just went out here in Angleton. Winds are absolutely howling. I'm living on laptop batteries and my T-mobile PC card right now.
skyline looks like major lightening in Montgomery County, flicks just flickered once. been doing with power so far... knocking on wood.
Yeah my power finally went out long enough that my TV went out. power came back but its flickering in and out. somehow a dude from austin giving weather report on southeast gulf area just feels comical, maybe just me.
Go away Fatty, I knew it was you before the EDIT. I really dislike your attitude. You do realize that the hurricane hasn't even hit yet? Go away.
Yeah, I know where Lakewood is...right on the Bay.....used to fish in that bay.....less than a block from my house in Lakewood. What do you mean it has been reclaimed by mother nature? Brownwood has been, but Lakewood? Not as far as I know.... DD
Power keeps going out. I think my desktop pc is f'ed. Start it up, goes to the prompt for safe mode or start windows normally, but either one I select, my pc just reboots all over again. Any suggestions?
Not sure if you saw it earlier, but I'm glad you made it back to your grandparents. I was thinking about that ever since Wednesday.
Cantore's in Galveston so he's in for the night. Bettis is just getting pounded in Clear Lake, over and over again, but he keeps staying out there. Makes me laugh too.
Again.....nice jog to the North East....that is HUGE news for the people that live on or near Galveston Bay. DD
Thanks man. I'm here. My grandmother is handicapped and my grandad is old and can't drive so we boarded up the house and the 3 of us are here. Power is out but I have plenty of laptop life and we have a generator and plenty of fuel and some A/C windows units for granny we'll fire up in the morning.
