I googled Porter Tx and it says it's northeast of Houston. From what everyone is saying, it would be best to be west of the storm, gets less wind gusts.

Main reason why I'm worried for a few friends up in Kingwood. It's gonna be bad for them

Douchebaggerness may be the best word in the history of the English language. It's up there with ****tard.

Pretty heavy winds, but no rain yet out in Katy.

Your windows won't blow in at 90mph unless you have really old or weak windows. The real threat is from flying debris, but that's a bit of a long shot.

That's good to hear...lol we have lawn chairs and a grill in our back yard and I told my dad we need to move those. He said, "Why, we don't need to move those. It's going to be fine." My mom nagged and got him to move it.

Same thing here, wind hitting the windows and raining pretty hard.

Somehow the power is still on.

Eye wall is still 2 hours away from the coast, and I'm telling you, Pasdena is getting NAILED! The howling winds underneath the doors is scary.

What are you talking about? the west end is underwater, the surge is above the 17 foot seawall, and the entire first floor of UTMB is underwater

The wind is blowing from the East, in order to get the WORST of the storm surge it would need to be blowing directly off the Gulf or from the south...the North East side of the storm.

It looks like with the last wobble the eyewall is going directly over the bay, thus removing it from blowing directly UP Galveston Bay.

Wow - just can't give up the hate....

Dude, I am passing on great information...great news for Clear Lake, La Porte, Baytown, Kemah, any city or town along the Galveston Bay.

If the storm hit in Freeport or SOUTH of Galveston the storm surge would be higher.

Right now, it is about a 15 footer, but that is well below the 20-25 that was predicted if the storm was on the west side of Galveston Island.

I think we're about to lose power here. Lights keep dimming and flickering.

    Pun,

    Baytown, just south of I10

whoever asked about the battery backup,

a battery backup is otherwise known as a UPS...Since they are for my valuable electronics, I bought big ones that will keep my stuff running for a while.

I so should have brought my UPS home with me from work. It's just sitting there at my desk doing nothing and could have given me valuable clutchfans time this weekend. :)
