Really scared on what we're going to feel in Katy...Last time I checked it was supposed to be around 90mph winds and I don't know if our windows are going to be able to hold up...here's hoping and praying that it does

The winds are supposed to get REAL bad on the east side of the storm...I guess that's why they wondered?

LOL here comes the massive hysteria.

It's starting to gust pretty hard over here in W Houston but we still have power. Just a couple of flickers about an hour ago and that's it.

Man at Elevator: What are you supposed to be, some kind of a cosmonaut?
Dr. Peter Venkman: No, we're exterminators. Someone saw a cockroach up on twelve.
Man at Elevator: That's gotta be some cockroach.
Dr. Peter Venkman: Bite your head off, man.

Why do my lights or tv flicker on and off but my router stays connected and I don't lose my internet access, even for a brief moment?

is there an actual hurricane out there? i know it looks like it on tv, but here in spring, we've only gotten some occasional gusts despite the fact the map shows tropical storm winds should have been here several hours ago. and hurricane winds were supposed to be coming shortly? and not a drop of rain has fallen.

power did just flicker off a few moments ago, but other than that you would just think it was a normal night.

So it's not in a bad spot, right? My family is hunkered down in Porter which is just northwest of Houston, I believe.

Still have power here in Spring Branch (77055). Couple of really slight flickers though earlier. Also getting 1st bit of rain from one of the rainbands.

You gave a location earlier, but don't remember on what page.

    Where is 77079?

Sideways rain here in the Heights. I went outside a minute ago to check on the boards on the windows and the wind was gusting pretty damn hard and the wind is hitting the window now.

Looking at wind speeds from buoys just off the coast of Galveston ahead of the eye, they have 65kt winds with gusts to 75kt. It kinda surprises me it isn't more.
