I'm in Alief. I had 2 brief power flickers about 10 minutes ago. The homeowners association (I live in a townhouse) cut down 2 trees in front of my and my neighbors house. It's kind of good because there's now no chance of them falling on our roof or coming through our front window. But it sucks because the tree directly in front us rocked and blocked the sun and heat well in the summer.

    Reporting from Katy, I-10/Fry...

Winds have really picked up, starting to howl now.

Internet (Comcast) has been up and down for the past 30 minutes.

    Hey everyone,

We're sitting in our driveway here in Pearland. Had some power flicker...but no loss.

Still no rain, but about 30-35 mph winds.

On CNN they are saying that Houston is under a dusk till dawn curfew. I'm pretty sure that's not true.

And now the CNN EXTREME weather "expert" just said "Houston isn't going to be recognizable tomorrow."

That's it, I'm going back to local coverage. I don't know what I was thinking.

    You live out here now?

We're close to Fry/Grand Parkway and the sun is out, but the winds are blowing.

Yeah those are the ones I've been going with other than my brief visit with CNN. I like Billingsley and Tim Heller. The Ch. 11 guys just don't do it for me. Dr. Neil should just wear a grim reaper costume when he's on the air.

I can't take Chad Meyers seriously since he had a hissy fit on the air during Katrina. The anchorwoman was being a c*** cutting him off, but he should have been professional and yelled at her off the air.

What part of Pearland are you in?
I am getting reports that its getting pretty bad in the area on 518 past 35 going to Dixie Farm. Apparently transformers are going out and there is a lot of power loss.

If you can make a phone call, your mobile broadband card should work, too. I've got mobile broadband in my laptop, and it'll be my lifeline if/when power goes out.
