METRO has announced no fares for the next couple days... many of the operating routes are listed on their site. http://metroresponds.org/go/site/1527/
This page has a lot of good links, including what to do if you were sperated from a family member or can't locate someone. http://www.usa.gov/Citizen/Topics/P...ecovery.shtml#vgn-find-family-and-friends-vgn
Houston Chronicle has a power map from eyewitnesses, Houston Chronicle staff, official accounts and reports in other news media. It's easier to read than the centerpoint map, because it contains street level data and the time power came on. It can take a minute to load completely. http://www.chron.com/databases/ikepower.html
A list of places that are open in Houston. http://creator.zoho.com/ntalect/check-conditions-by-zip/view/2/
Pretty cool except for I clicked the map for the lone 77025 location and it pinpointed a place in Ireland.
*** Outages By Zipcode on Centerpoint Website *** Centerpoint has updated their site to include outages by zipcode now. Maybe this'll be more helpful to some of you. http://www.centerpointenergy.com/newsroom/stormcenter/ike/outages/
Centerpoint's map thingy doesn't work on a blackberry (brilliant!). Is it possible for one of you to put 77008 into their site and post a direct link to the reulting page here?
It helps but doesn't help. Within a large zip code could by many neighborhoods, subdivisions, and complexes. Some could be on, others off, a single subdivision could be split one half on other half off depending where the restored power lines are. I like chron.com's idea but one fatal flaw is that anybody can edit it. 77008 - 100% it's in pdf http://www.centerpointenergy.com/staticfiles/CNP/Common/SiteAssets/doc/Zip_Codes_9.15_8pm.pdf
No doubt. I was just thinking if it says 100%, there's no point, but maybe around 50%, you'll be willing to take the chance. I was just thinking not knowing anything at all has got to be pissing people off, so this is somewhat of an improvement.
Either they're wrong or 42 different people lied on the Chronicle's site. See 77008 addresses reported as on here: http://www.chron.com/databases/ikepower-search.html?appSession=46329064381603
And many of those 008 power restores happened as early as yesterday. Centerpoint's update is riddled with mistakes.
I agree with the sentiment completely and I was excited to see you post the link. But wrong information is often worse than none at all.
They are showing a change in the number of outages for that zipcode. At 8am there were 19800 outages for that zipcode. At 8pm there were 19538 outages for that zipcode. That's a change of about 262. I don't know how they're coming up with the percentage though since I don't know what the total number of people serviced in that zipcode may be. Even if the total was 19800, that would mean about a 1.3% change.
Neither centerpoint's nor chron's pages work on a blackberry. Ugh! I tell ya, if sites like those aren't mobile-friendly, they're being run by idiotic webmasters. Thanks for trying to help, though, guys!
