I still think it's kinda random. My fiancee and I are both in zip codes that shouldn't receive power until post 9/22. She got hers on Sunday and mine came back Monday.

I thought Comcast is up, but it might be that I have basic cable.

maybe in your area, but here I have a total lack of anything on their lines.
I have two high speed cable lines (one business, one personal) and digital cable with 3 dvrs(which by the way are useless without a signal, you can't access your recordings unless you can pull up a channel lineup)

All our lines to their box are buried, and I know from talking to techs that their lines are buried, so no downed lines excuse.

I pay too damn much for this to go on much longer, we do way too much work across vpn and the internet.

sorry, just venting...this is *almost* as frustrating as being limited by what a generator can put out.

I am in 77388, supposedly by Monday is my date.

Funny thing is that Centerpoint was working on my street on the lines the day of the storm. Around 5 o'clock. But we haven't seen them since. I read the story in the Chronicle today about the progress and seems the biggest work to the backbone is already done.

I just hope that after Monday everyone knows someone who has lights and can crash with them.

you know you've been without power for too long when it stops seeming like that big of a deal. I just rationalize everything. 'It's good that i'm taking a cold shower cause it's hot anyway.' 'Being without lights is helping me get more sleep everynight.' 'Hey, my light bill won't be so high this month.' etc, etc.

I've managed up until now, i should be fine for monday and "beyond"...right?

the map doesn't make much sense to me. inner houston would seem to have the most dense populations of people while at the same time the largest population of high paying customers. By all accounts and purposes, you'd think they'd start inside and work their way out.

i see its a general west to east flow, since the east side got hit harder than the west side, but again, doesn't make much sense to me - wouldn't you want to fix some of the more complicated stuff closer to now, when all these crews and extra help is here?

oh well. not a huge deal, but last night did heat up a little bit again and wasn't nearly as refreshing a night sleep as i was previously getting sans power.

I have thought about that light bill thing a few times, :D

But honestly, I think next Wednesday is my breaking point.

It's kinda tough to look out the window and see 90% of your apartment complex restored...and you're in the unlucky 10%. It says 77081 won't be restored until after the 22nd. Which probably means around the beginning of October. *sigh*

If a warm front moves in, we're screwed. I wonder if calling Centerpoint would make a difference. Doubtful. I guess we're considered one of the "minor individual residences." Well, when the Kroger and Jack in the Box next to us get power, I sure hope we're connected to them. :(

    That's funny...

Why would you take a cold shower? Doesn't the pilot light work on natural gas, thus still have hot water?

My mom is in the Sept. 22nd date and I all the generators were sold out in Dallas...I believe they shipped them to Houston...She'll be on the lookout for one...

My brother is in 77088 and he has had power since Monday... a week ahead of time. I'm in 77064 and it says not until after 09/22... but I have my fingers crossed since it doesn't seem to be all that acccurate.

Some hot water heaters are electric, not all are gas.
