My buddy's apartment across the street never lost power, cable, or water.

So we sat around all day drinking beer, eating pizza (from star pizza next door, thanks again to the owner for listening to our suggestion to open up), and watching football.

    Yep. Hate me yet?

Played poker and drank tequila until the power went off at 3:32 am. I remember exactly because I bet it would go out by 330 and it flickered at 3:25 but came back on then went out for good at 3:32. I lost $20 of the $100 I had won at poker on those 2 minutes.

Then we stood outside by my gas grill and used the grill light to finish off the bottle to tequila.

    Grilled Tequila anyone?

Then when I was sure nothing major was going to happen I went and laid down in my son's room with him and slept for a few hours.

Had a pre-hurricane barbecue, went home when it got really windy, watched the storm from my porch till it got pretty heavy around 2:00 or 3:00. Watched TV until everything went out at 4:00, and figured it was two weeks until I have electricity again, so went to sleep.

Everything in the house turns on at 5:00. :D

We did have low water pressure for like two days. :(

All my family is from Galveston and we all congregated in San Antonio with our eyes stuck to the TV. Watching how flooded it was before the storm even hit kind of had everyone sick to their stomach. A few of my family members knew they would lose everything and although we were all down we weren't as down as you would think. Everyone being together helped those who were losing everything. In the end my family members that lost their homes have a much nicer looking home now then before the storm, but had to go months without a place to settle. My grandmother just moved back in last month to her place. I think in the end it brought us all closer together, but man that ***** was pretty traumatic.

I was at work, because our bosses didn't feel it was a big enough threat to let us go home early.

Then I got to my gf's apartment just in time to ride the whole thing out...until her bedroom began to flood at about 1am.

Man, that sucked. No lights, no A/C, no plumbing, Johnny sacks for days. They evacuated 1307 Baker, so we had 40+ people in a 24-man dorm.

I went to work at midnight Thursday night/Friday morning, and worked till Monday afternoon. We actually went out during the eye of the storm to restart some pumps and compressors. Wild time.

Spent a large part of Friday afternoon/evening posting updates on this site from the refinery's special weather site.
