This is a little old so I am posting it here.. (also to keep the people that think they are the official forum police happy) but since he wasn't a Rocket at the time some may have missed it. It had some nice references to Tmac also. Could you say it was in the stars? http://sports.ign.com/articles/654/654675p1.html
He's only 22, I think he still has potential to become a T-Mac type player. Probably not as good as T-Mac was, but has All-Star potential. Just needs time.
well he hasn't had the same success that tracy saw after 3 years in the nba out of high school. however, no one says he has to become one of the best players in the world like tracy has. i feel that we need to look at him as if this were his rookie season, since he is the same age as those guys.
I completely agree about looking at him as a born again "Rookie." He is now playing on a team with some great mentors and he is in his home town now. Hopefully he will be far more motivated to improve. I think he can learn a lot from T-mac and hopefully develop into a solid player.
He went to my high school a couple of years after I graduated and by all personal (albeit 3rd party) accounts, he's really immature and unintelligent. The reason he went to Gulf Shores is because he couldn't pass his classes and my old coach (who didn't give breaks to ANYBODY on their grades) told him to take a hike. Since he is now a Rocket, I want him to succeed to the greatest degree possible, but if it's a matter of developing a work ethic and a significant level of maturity, I highly doubt it's going to happen. But even then he still may develop into an effective bench player on talent alone.
All the talent in the world...we'll see. Good trade just for the fact that Kirk wasn't playing either.
We do have a good group to surround him with. Deke, Shane, Yao, T-Mac, Chuck are all classy guys. Hopefully they will put him on the right track before it's too late.
Well, obviously that lack of IQ is showing up on the basketball court. You can't teach his athleticism, but you also can't make the guy smarter either. For that reason alone, I'm thinking his potential won't come close to T-Mac, who is a very smart basketball player. I think Green will be a good test for Adelman, on how to best utilize his strengths - guy still has great hops - while minimizing his weaknesses. Perhaps Green can use his lengths to be come a great defensive player, and given very limited decision making on offense.
He can't be more of a defensive liability than Novak is, so give him some minutes at SG or SF during garbage time and see if he floats. I guarantee Rafer (or Aaron) won't be running the fast break alone w/ Green out there. He'll be looking to dunk at every opportunity.
You got to love the kid's confidence. First step to success is believing in yourself. He got the swagger.........
