A lot of Clutch fans bring up Iggy/Gay as a 2nd star if we were to trade for Dwight. My question is if we trade for Dwight and have peices left over for a 2nd star who would make the better pairing with D12? I say Gay because he's a better scorer than Iggy,Iggy is the better defender but Dwight is already a great defender.Gay would be more of a need because he can be a go-to scorer.
hard to say without knowing the rest of the roster. Defense wins championships, so having a perimeter and post defender would be nice. Scoring shouldnt be a problem in the NBA
Neither. Parsons. No, not saying he is as good as those other 2 but rather cheaper. Yes, call me cheap. ; ) $$$ elsewhere.
If iggy is a second star then we might as well keep parsons. He's not a playmaker, he was the third best scorer on a team with NO go to scorer. I'd love to have him and I think he's a great player, but he's not what I would call a "second star". Gay is not a bad defender, and he's not as good overall as iggy but i'd take him over iggy if they are getting paird the same. The problem is gay's salary, he's not worth that. Parsons is iggy light, will eventually be an EXCELLENT third option, hard worker, very good defender, streaky offense, just less athletic.
This would be the correct answer. My theory on Harden is he is only worth a max (and he will be getting a max contract from some team) if he is with another superstar, Dwight would be good for that. Harden fills all of Dwight's holes and is a perfect compliment. (Go to guy in the clutch, good spot up 3 pt shooter, can bring up the ball and feed into the post/tall enough to do so). We will likely give up Lamb & Martin in any trade for Dwight, we'll have a glaring hole @ the 2. If we keep Parsons, I'd take him over Gay or Iggy, not talent wise, but for the price. Gay and Iggy are not worth anywhere near their contract prices.
Gay is a net negative to a team, would never want him. Iggy is a nice player, but Parsons is great at 1/13th the cost. I'd look for a 4, Nene or Smith.
i think Gay is a better fit as well as younger. Iguodala is cheaper, can play 2 next to Parson and even 1 when Lin is taking a rest, and I wouldn't be surprised if he's more respected among players (US NT connection, leader of his team, All Star), which may be a consideration for keeping Howard.
i also think Iguodala is more attainable for the Rockets. Not sure you'll have enough salary and players that the Grizzlies value, after trading for Dwight. Keep in mind, young PFs will be the last think that the Grizzlies will want.
