Low risk, high reward. Do it. From the sounds of it he would love playing here. http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-network-total-access/09000d5d820a7f02/Where-will-Burress-land
I'd be less surprised if they signed Asomahgouasthoasdwhe than if they sign Plaxico. I just can't see McNair green-lighting Plax.
don't texans like guns? is it a black man with a gun that scares him? (maybe i'm forgetting other plaxico misdeeds since he went to prison for pretty much just being a dumbass).
mom in-law and yes we do! you need to meet the little booger too. maybe we could meet at a club with waterguns in the elastic of our sweatpants (to keep it relevant to the thread)?
i don't want to hear about any cf.net guys planning to meet somewhere with various items in their elastics pants. tmi man...
Yeah, while they make the playoffs and our "douche-bag free locker room" guys remain out of the playoffs. Sucks that the one thing you can count on with the Texans is them not going after someone with any sort of past history. Just the Boy Scouts. Where has the gotten this team?
This is the same thing people said when the thread was created about Vick. Players make mistakes and they usually change for the better, like Vick.
What "guy with any sort of history" would have changed things for the Texans last year? Or the year before that? Do you not see the logical disconnect here? The Texans did not lose because McNair is afraid to sign poor-character guys. They lose because their defensive coaching, clock management, and game management are a historic farce and because they grossly misjudged talent on the defensive side of the ball. A couple thugs won't fix that.
Talent > "some" off the field issues I can see the concern if the guy was on drugs, beating women, etc. The dude supposedely was carrying a gun for protection and accidently shot himself. Very stupid, but not exactly thug like. If we are ok with steroid users in the locker room, something that can come up again and force them to miss more games, then we should be fine with a guy who did something incredibly stupid that probably will never happen again. Especially when he is a 6-5 red zone threat that would get tons of great looks alongside our already stud WR and TE and already knows what it takes to win a title and has a history of stepping up big when it matters. Those are the kind of guys the team needs, assuming he can still play.
The dude was on probation already for his other criminal exploits, and carried a firearm when he knew it was a violation. Precisely thuglike. And yes, stupid. If you know carrying a firearm violates your probation, and you don't feel safe going somewhere unless you're armed (do I really have to spell this out???), don't go there. But frankly, I'm not buying that he kept it for protection. It's an accessory to him. That's how thugs roll, you know. If we are ok with steroid users in the locker room[/quote] Who's OK with that? Show of hands? If Cushing gets caught "overtraining" again, he needs to go flip burgers. Never happen again??? LOL are you kidding me? He went jail precisely due to repeat offenses. Not only did it "happen again", dude couldn't even keep himself in check long enough to make it through probation. Dude has been non-stop trouble and in trouble. Textbook thug. Like "Pacman".
There is a huge difference here...he served his time in jail...things like that typically change a person, specially if you've watched his interviews right before he served his sentence and after his release. It's quite obvious to me that the switch in his head has been flipped. Much like Vick, I think Plax will stay out of trouble, at least until his playing days are over.
well I hope he *does* get another chance -- I always want guys to get another chance. I just won't shed any tears if his chance doesn't come in Houston.
