I mean, he's had a 3.23 and 2.84 era in two seasons with the Yankees. His postseasons with them kinda suck, but not a bad regular season pitcher.

Like what Cole has done as well. Would take again. He finished 4th and 2nd in the Cy Young in the two years. That's legit. Better than anyone we had.

His Era is about 4.5 since the ban. Still striking people out last and right, so perhaps just a tough luck stretch, but has to concern the Yankees.

If there was only some other way for catchers to relay signs to the pitchers......

I don't see public link. How do you see what your vote was?

I admit I'm enjoying hearing Yankee angst with signing Gerrit Cole.

He has been really good most of the time but they paid him for the last 4 months of 2019 that were amazing. Yankees fans thought he would continue to be that 4 month stretch pitcher all the time. His first two months of that year were bad enough that his overall stats were still second to Verlander in the minds of the Cy Young voters.

Is there really angst about him? He's been a top-3 type pitcher each of his first 2 years with the Yankees. Here are the top 5 paid pitchers in baseball right now:

    1 - Max Scherzer - injured
    2 (tie) - Jacob DeGrom - injured
    2 (tie) - Gerrit Cole
4 - Trevor Bauer - not allowed to play
5 - Stephen Strasburg (pitched 26 innings in the last 2 years combined)

The concern about Cole is the latter years of his contract, but he's more than earned his past 2 years.

He was a top 3 pitcher for the first 23 starts as a Yankee

Over his last 21 starts he has an ERA over 4 (almost exactly at league average), and that falloff almost entirely lines up with a rule change. While I don't think he's actually a league average pitcher, I think there's certainly a reason to fear he may simply be a good pitcher and not an elite pitcher anymore.

Framber has almost exactly the same trajectory since 2020, but we're not paying him 36 million for 7 years

Did Cole get hurt or pulled for poor performance in the 2nd today?
