If Huff is already a viable corner outfielder, then what would be the purpose of sitcking him at the 3rd with Ensberg there; I'm condifent Ensberg will come around, and despite how streaky he is, it makes more sense to make a trade for a corner outfielder instead of having to make two trades to meet that end.
Maybe Jonny Gomes is available (from the same article)... HERE'S JONNY: Most of the Rays were planning to take it easy during the break. And then there is Jonny Gomes. "I'm going to drink some beer and get some tattoos," he said. "I'm going to stay on the beach. And hopefully, I'm going to pick up my new dog, an albino boxer." Its name is Jager. That's short for Jagermeister, which is all you need to know.
because ensberg and i have about the same number of RBIs since june 1, and he's either really, really hurt (again) or has completely lost every ounce of confidence in his ability. i like that huff can do both, so if ensberg is fried, we have options. i think he's fried. i could be wrong; hope i am. but a 30-year old ballplayer with his experience should not look this overwhelmed.
So I guess Lidge finally developed a third pitch: a 97 mph slider that doesn't break. I agree with gist of your point though, it wasn't a bad pitch. It was actually off the plate. Miles just poked it down the line. Lucky bit of hitting.
Why would he play 3B, when we already have the best offensive third baseman in baseball? Ensberg will pull it together, more likely than not.
I can't speak for b, but last year Ensberg was among the very best 3B in baseball. Not sure he was A-Rod, but I'm being too lazy to look up the numbers.
I know he was among the best if not the best in the NL...that's why it's pointless to give up on him when there are other much more glaring needs.
If I were Purpura, I'd be glad that the Texans took an odd choice with the first pick of the draft and that Carroll Dawson has so far mucked up the offseason for the Rockets. It almost makes his sitting back and doing nothing look good.
Not being sarcastic. Ensberg had a monster season, and was poised for another one before this slump. He will bounce back.
Okay, I went back and checked the VORP numbers from 2005. Ensberg posted the 3rd best season of any 3B in the majors, after ARod and Wright. Even though he's slumping this season, he's still posting the 3rd highest VORP of any hitter on the Astros after Berkman and Lamb. We need to improve the corner outfield spots before worrying about Ensberg.
Well, I definitely don't think that. Burzmali, I'm not an Ensberg hater. I think he'll eventually come out of this slump and will provide some much needed protection for Berkman in the second half. I'm just not anywhere close to ready to put him in the A-Rod, Cabrera, or even Wright category just yet. He needs to string together a few more seasons like 2005 before I'll do that.
610 am is saying there is a major announcement that the Astros are going to make at 9:30 am this morning. Hopefully, Timmy P came through. I'm excited.
i didn't hear that...i'm listening right now. they're talking about the 'stros, but not about some imminent deal. they're joking about tejada.
Unless they were completely joking, Jeremy came in and said there would be a major announcement at 9:30. He has been know to be sarcastic though.
