Why? Trading our **** for their All-Stars is the stuff of keyboard GM legend. What else do you expect out of a thread like this?
Lane I can deal with..but now you wanna give up two of our best prospects. Clemens is gone next year and very well likely Pettite with him. We're gonna need pitching; Wandy you can let go, even perhaps Nieve..but not Buccholz and Hirsch.
I'd be more interesed in Soriano; look what he's done playing in RFK. Can you imagine what he'd do in MMP.
You consider Hirsh & Pense ****? Wow. Why don't you try to propose some trade ideas instead of cracking on others.
Never said that. What was commented on was: Wandy + Jimerson = Willis Willy + Lane + Springer/Miller = Crawford ****in' A, sign me up.
sure, but how do you bet on such thing and resolve it unless what they get is undisputably worse or better than getting hirsch, taveras, wandy? too much objectivity involved to be able to bet on.
see..this is why you're the best baseball mind on this board...because of sh#$ like this. impressive. most impressive.
you live/work close to me on the west side right? we need to catch a game with Buck and RM95 at BW3 sometime.
I guess staying the course is okay. 2nd place was fun last year regardless, and I'm sure it will be again this year.
You essentially think that the best that Tampa would do for Crawford is the Astros top minor league prospect (at least in terms of being ready for promotion to the majors) and two extremely mediocre players, Rodriguez who is 27 and Taveras who is 25 (both older than Crawford). For the most part, I think it will be cut and dried if the deal is better or worse, but we can agree to ALL pitch in $10.00 if it is too difficult to measure. So are you in? Here are the terms: Tampa must trade Crawford by 08/31/2006. If it is clear that they do better than Hirsh, Taveras and Rodriguez, you pay $25.00 to the tip jar and I'll pay $10.00. If it is clear they did worse, I'll pay $25 and you pay $10. If it is a toss up, we both pay $10.00. If it is a toss up, we have until 09/04 to make our case as to why I am right and you are wrong . At that time, if it is still a toss-up we will declare it as such and contribute the $10.00 each.
here's the thing: we value wandy and taveras completely differently. while i am not high on them as current players, I think they are great trade assets. like i said, they are both in only their 2nd year in the MLB, taveras finished 2nd (or 3rd?) in ROY voting less than a year ago, and have both showed glimpses of success in the majors. like i said, it really isn't something you can bet on, as there is too much objectivity involved. i have been planning on donating to the tipjar in the near future anyway though.
