Idiot Barkley for sure. Say what you want about him, but I have never seen a harder worker with more sweat dropping from his head Every game he astounded me, especially the rebounding. He wasn't the biggest in size, but in heart no one came close out there going for the ball. real shame he didn't win a ring here or in his career, he deserved one.

Frances era I didn't like. I am not much into iso and show boating.
McGrady was ok...the others aren't even worth mentioning.

he was actually slowly improving into somewhat of a point guard. francis wouldnt have needed to carry the team per se. but he could be counted on for clutch shots. i just think his career and our playoff runs wouldve been better if we had kept him. say what you want but that team actually had good chemistry. but now i remember he wouldnt have done well under jvg. if we had ra back then we couldve had a shot.

Probably have to agree to disagree. JVG actually had Francis buying into being a more complete player, I think. IMo Francis felt like he was "the Franchise" and I don't think he was quite good enough to be the first option on a winning team. Another thing that kind of bugged me about him was, (and this is completely off topic) he was totally against drafting Yao, he pushed hard for the team to draft his fellow Terrapin Chris Wilcox #1. Man am I glad that didn't happen

    Ahhh, memories. :)

    How's this for nostalgia:

Imagine if we could have afforded Reggie Miller that year.

Yup. I'm pretty sure we had the best record in the West for the first half of the season that year. Wasn't Rudy-t the All-Star coach?

there must be a whole bunch of kids who grew up on Francis and nothing else. I don't get the fascination.

Francis was our Allen Iverson. the guy people who can relate to based on size and play ground moves and probably age. Nobody is Hakeem Olajuwon.

I have to vote for the McGrady era. There was just so much hope and optimism that he and Yao would take us to the promised land.

I should also mention that I didnt live in Houston during the Francis era. While I watched most of the games via NBA League Pass it is still not the same has being in the city. Since I moved back in 2003 I have been a season ticket holder since day one of the Toyota Center.

Either way, I love all the eras of the Rockets. Expectations obviously are different between the eras, but as a Rockets fan you cant help but love all the teams. For some odd reason, I really loved the 2006-2007 squad. That Game 7 loss at home to the Jazz still kills me. Damn it.

I went with Griffin, god bless him, but only because he gave me one of my favorite quotes of ALL TIME:

"I can't go to jail. Any car in life you want, I got it for you, man. I'll pay for it, I promise. Tomorrow, you'll have it tomorrow. You want a Hummer? You want a... um, not a Bentley."

    RIP, Eddie.

The Barkley era was particularly tough for me -- despite the promise of another title. I had always hated Chuck, and having to cheer for him left a pretty bad taste in my mouth.

Dude, read the post you quoted and replied to. He said "two of" the greatest moments in Rockets history, not "the two" greatest. And I think most Rockets fans here agree that those 2 moments that T-Mac gave us back then are indeed among the best.

Easily Barkley and the 96-97 squad - I haven't read the thread, but that was a championship-level team even with Maloney. His shortcomings on defense and handling the ball were the x-factor that kept a good team from being truly great (though his spot up shooting was a good complement to Dream/Charles, obviously).

I'll take the Barkley era. Knowing what I know now I'd charge the floor and tackle John Stockton before he gets a chance to take that 3 pointer!!

Agreed. One of the funniest and most entertaining moments of a Rockets game. Barkley was so damn funny.

Barkley era. That team started out the year 22-2 or something along those lines. If not for injuries, 65-70 wins that year was not out of the question

What would frustrate you the most about having to go back and watch those eras also? Since Barkley is leading, I will say having to watch the team go through all those injuries would kill me. Even looking at Matt Maloney knowing he is about to get a contract that will hamstring the team for years would tick me off to no end. Also, yes we did go to the WCF the first year of Barkley but keep in mind you would also have to relive the second year that we went 41-41 and lost to the Jiz again.

I can't believe some of you said you would relive the Steve Francis era. Love is heart and hustle. T-Mac was the better talent but Steve had a bigger heart. That being said, For every awesome game he had he would follow that performance with 2 straight duds. In that era, we missed the playoffs by 1 or 2 games in the 2001 and 2003 season. Reliving that era would make me tear out my hair like Homer Simpson. Like I said before in my old post, I would relive the Pippen era. For one, that was a shorten season. And 2 on that team that year was a unique in that they had a blend of the old and young in Dream, Barkley, and Pippen. And for the young would be Micheal Dickerson, Cat Mobley. I really enjoyed watching that team. And plus the Dream has like a resurgence season. Plus Dickerson even though he only played one season is one of my favorite Rockets.
