Let's say the Astros don't play well the whole year, and by July time we are 20 games back. If you were Biggio, would you want to be traded to a contender? Or would you be loyal and stay to play with Baggy?
Well, Baggy's not playing so I doubt hat would have anything to do with it. If we are that far out, I'd love to see Bidge get a chance to win a ring...but i dont think he would ever ask....nor do I think he wants to leave.
Has Biggio ever wanted a trade? Also, I'm not sure there is a high demand for Biggio this late in his career.
The demand could be there but would Bigg look to move? maybe the Yankees (a NY connection coupled with a sad 2nd sacker situation in NYY)? I would be surprised, but not shocked -- if yanks promised him a full shot at 3,000. The one to trade TODAY is Viz. There is an older player with upside to a contender, with some marketability. Give Bruntlett his playing time while gaining a younger guy to be part of the next run to almost championship level.
Keep Biggio.. he's an Astros icon. let him end his career here with Bagwell.. The era of Todd Self is upon us
No...Biggio is one of the few guys still busting his arse and plus, he's older than dirt, not much you'd be able to get for him...
Hopefully he does want a trade. He was able to get a manager (and Houston icon, as people like to say) fired, he should be able to instigate a trade. I wouldn't advocate trading him if he didn't want it, but let's just hope that he does. Clemens to, while we're at it. Otherwise, what's the point? If you're going to suck, suck with youth, not with vets.
I don't think he would want to be traded at all. He wants nothing less than 3000 hits. He's an icon and his starting spot is secure as long as he is an Astro and healthy. Any other team could bench him for any reason if they desire. It's much harder to bench him here. See Chris Burke as an example.
