If you were an employer, would you be more inclined to higher a man over a woman?

This is probably sexist or based on my own life, but I think women are often time more responsible and attentive to the level of detail required for much office work.

 

Actually, I can miss work due to my wife's medical issues, whatever they may be. When she was pregnant, I missed several days for prenatal appointments. If you actually wanted to hire based on the desire to avoid "female issues," the only people in your labor pool would be gay men.

 

So, you are in the food industry? I didn't realize having your own skillet was a requirement. Me? I'd pick the candidate who didn't believe in Teflon.

All kidding aside, I think it would all depend on the size of the woman's breasts.

When did I say this? There are plenty of women whom I have hired because they were more qualified than anybody else. You must have missed my initial statement..if all things considered equal

Is that the norm for most employment in the US? You use your own personal experience and benefits but the fact is, 99% of employers do not provide that type of benefit.

I'm an engineer. I would probably be more inclined to hire a qualified woman than a man due to the dearth of estrogen in my work environment. That said, being the logical creature that I am, the simple question would be whether she was the most qualified candidate. I sat in on a couple of interviews this past year, and we ended up giving the job to a woman because she had more relevant experience than the guy.

For fresh grads? I'd certainly love to see more females.

 

I was an employer and though I have never thought much about it, I hired more women. Actually I hired a greater percentage of minorities in general. I had a committee hiring process so only the finalists were referred to me. My staff was legendary as the best ever. We believed we hired the best of those that applied without regard to any other issue.

 

My employer is starting to actively hire more women since, as JeopardE mentioned, STEM related jobs (IT for me) is pretty much a sausagefest.

It does make the place more energetic since volunteers will spring up and demonstrate how cool they are to the ladies.

Just don't **** where you eat.

 

Whoever is the most qualified. Is this really still a question?

I would really like to see more of a 50/50 split in Congress. I think that's one of the problems today in politics...too much testosterone.
