And then we went to the World Series and he's been stuck in Mediocrity. I hope the same happens to James if he does the same.

If they don't sign him, they can replace him at SF with next years #1 pick Harrison Barnes, given that they'll have a shot at that pick.

    Youngster.

Try Joe Morgan, Elvin Hayes, J.R. Richard, Dickie Thon, Ralph Sampson, John Lucas... all were lost to Houston sports in the prime of their careers due to one factor or another.

After watching what happened to Richard and Thon and to a lesser extent Sampson, having someone choose to go to another team is not such a big deal.

my friend (a clev fan) summed it up well. he's a little pissed by the whole show. he said

"And if LeBron holds an hour long "special" about leaving Cleveland, he better get some extra security, cause there are some crazy fans that have had this happen before (F you, Art Modell)."

I'd become a fan of whatever team Lebron went to. That's how I became a Rockets fan... when Drexler left Portland for Houston.

I think it would be even more devastating than losing Hakeem. I mean, I am one of the world's biggest Hakeem fans, but let's be honest. Lebron is even better than Hakeem. Additionally, while Hakeem went to school at UH, Lebron is from Ohio. I just can't even fathom how Cleveland fans would feel.

I don't believe Lebron will leave though. I mean, imagine the situation he's in. He has single handedly made the Cavs relevant for basically the first time ever. That's the dream right there. You grow up the fan of your local team and then end up being the star player on that team that can lead them to the title?

As a die hard fan, were I in his position, winning a championship for any other franchise just wouldn't mean as much. And I also think that if he wins even a couple championships in Cleveland, that's the equivalent of winning like 6 in Los Angeles or Chicago. It isn't easy bringing championships to small market teams. That's what makes the Spurs so remarkable.

That is an absolutely ridiculous statement. I am a native Houstonian and it took me a few seconds to even remember what you were talking about. I didn't care at all when Beltran left. He played for the Stros for what? Two seasons? He had no connections to the city. And his talent isn't even comparable to Lebron's.

I know, I know. It hurt to type. But I honestly think Lebron may be the greatest player of all time. And I'm not even a Lebron fan per say.

It would be horrible. He isn't the best, but he is a very fine player. I like him,and wish that he stays in Cleveland, which appears to be unlikely right now.

I would be mostly pissed off at the former Cavs' managment and their utter incompetence at surrounding LeBron with a worthy supporting cast.

The Knicks can offer David Lee to Cleveland, buy do they really need another PF?

I still have my doubts about him leaving Cleveland.

As long as he doesn't have a ring he's not better than Hakeem. Look at the teams that Hakeem led to a championship.

Lebron can score all the points he wants, but if he never wins a ring then he will be always passed up by those great players players who have one.

Lebron is 25 years old. Hakeem was in his 30's before he won a championship. Lebron has plenty of time. However, if he remains with the Cavs, I don't expect he'll win more than one or two championships tops.

And to act as if Lebron is just a scorer is ludicrous. Lebron is nothing like we've ever seen. He is literally the size of Karl Malone but he runs the floor, handles the ball and passes like a guard. He is an elite scorer, rebounder and passer. And guess what? He plays defense too. You may not be a Lebron fan, but he's undeniably one of the greatest and most unique talents the NBA has ever seen.

In recent memory I would imagine the only two worse events would be the Browns taking off and Jose Mesa blowing the World Series....

I dont think theres any houston comparison. The one that would be closest would be IF VY got drafted here flirted with a superbowl but never got it done than took off for the bright lights...

    LeBron is a cleveland guy....

On 2nd thought the only thing worse would be the Browns ditching town.......
