Having an incompetent complacent owner, this organization NEEDS fans to make more bold statements that are anti-team. I hope McNair saw it and felt uncomfortable. I hope it bothers him. Heck, it's arguable the PLAYERS needed to see it.. they didn't rise up until afterwards.
I just finished watching the game on my dvr because I wanted to hear the commentary . . . They wouldn't shut up about it . . .
I left early (season ticket holder since the beginning and that was only the 2nd time I've ever left early) when Luck ran it in unopposed. I was seriously down on the Texans at that point and neither side of the ball had showed anything to inspire confidence. That combined with our track record on primetime convinced me this game was over.
Over the years, you can tell Al Michaels does not like the city of Houston. Last night they had a time-lapse shot of one of the freeways with downtown in the distance, and he says "isn't that a *great* background shot for our promo." As far as the first 3+ quarters went, they could have been a whole lot more negative had they chosen to. I've been to 15 or so Texans games over the years, only one I walked out of early in disgust was the 30something to 3 pasting the Bengals put on them in '02. Went back out to the tailgate, turned the tv on and watched a different game, fired up the food and drink until the rest of the crew came back.
I left at halftime but it had nothing to do with the game. Was going to leave either way. Have to get up too early on Monday. But watched the finish from the comfort of my bed. Have to say that I'm more and more preferring just watching the game at home than being there. Maybe it's just the product but the home experience is where it's at.
I changed the channel many times over the years but I hung in for every play last night. It never seemed out of reach.
I think you took Al the wrong way on that one. The shot in question was a sped up night time lapse of the freeway traffic all lit up against downtown lights while promoting some nascar race. It was a beautiful shot that matched the promo perfectly and I think Al's comments were genuine.
Players have the ability to forget about past games and move on. We, as fans, dont forget. We've been feeling pretty bad about this team since Patriots loss and those feelings carry over into the next game. Im tired of watching this team bury themselves early in games with their mistakes. They need to get their **** together and play 4 complete quarters.
Offensive calls were so bad, you do not need waste your time to watch it. Luckily Miller on that run saved the season for the team.
I don't know if we can say the owner is complacent. He shelled out money for free agents, including the widely regarded best FA QB available this past offseason. He has paid big for FAs in the past. He put his foot down on the QB situation with Schaub and Keenum and even fired the coach over it. You can argue incompetency (which isn't required for an owner, that's why he hires people) but I don't see complacency.
Most people left with about 7-8 minutes left. The score was 23-9, and the Texans looked dead in the water.
To be clear, I wholeheartedly support any fan walking out whenever they choose for whatever reason they want. I am assuming that most were leaving after the FG giving the Colts the 23-9 lead. I am just surprised that many of them just didn't stay for that one more Texans' series, just to see. I would have understood more if the FG gave the Colts a 17+ point lead.
I was in the bullpen and stayed. More than half around me left an they consider themselves "die hard" fans.
I was in Section 109 and stayed the entire game. I saw a few people leave early around us, but it didn't seem more of an issue than most Houston sports games. I came down from Austin with a Colts fan to watch the game and drove back up the same night. I will say, I was pleasantly surprised not just at how many people stayed in our section, but how hospitable the fans were to the Colts fan. There was playful ribbing throughout, and even after the win, there wasn't any obnoxious rubbing it in his face.
These players need to grow up. Especially the veterans speaking out about the fans. This team hasn't performed to expected levels for several years yet every game is a sellout. I was in New England for the Thursday night game until the very end. The players, nor coaching staff, even showed up for the game. There were quite a few Texans fans there that night who were so embarrassed by the performance. Did any of the players come out and give us a pat on the back for spending our money to come support the team? NO. Instead you hear BoB talking about everyone having a job to do when he was annoyed of reporters asking why they didn't show up. I'll always support them but for them to blast their own fans is terrible. Even if the media asks the question about fans leaving they could have said we didn't perform well enough all game to make them stay. But the one time they pull off a miracle they are upset with the fans? They lay an egg against the good teams. I'm hoping for Brock to turn it around against his former team.
I was surprised too. There were a handful of colts fans around us (131...near the ultimate warrior texan dude). Most were very nice and it was playful. There was one colts fan with his little Colt hardhat that got a little obnoxious after the colts got their last score. He was gone by the end of the game.
