so, this is city-only, not team only.

Exactly. This is a Lin fans bashing thread in disguised. If you like Jeremy Lin, are you really a Houston Rockets fan? OP should add more questions. If you only like Rockets because you live in Houston, are you really a Rox fan?

Still a rox fan, but maybe not a die-hard rox fan for some people.

I got to follow the team because of yao, then yao retired and I found myself emotionally engaged with the team and get to cheer for other rockets players.

If I'm labelled as YOF, then I'll just happily admit it since it's not a big deal for these lebelling stuff. Imagine if there's a big NBA forum and all of us get called 'ROF'...would any of us feel differently? We are all 'NOF'(NBA only fans).

At the end of the day, it's all about having fun.

Very good question that applies to me because I became a Rocket fan as a player based fan when Drexler was traded to the Rockets. I was young enough and had no allegiance to the Blazers so I followed Drexler to the Rockets. It did not take long for me to become an Olajuwon fan and soon enough he surpassed Drexler. I also became a fan of the other players on our team and before I knew it I was a Rockets fan. I remember being torn at first with the Barkley trade because we lost Cassell and Horry as they were young, vital players to the championship teams. However because I was by this point a Rockets fan it did not take long to accept Barkley and move on. Following the end of the Rockets dominance in the late 90's I stuck with the Rockets because at this point there was no going back. Remember how excited I was when we traded for Francis and then it was all about Francis and Mobley. The T-Mac trade brough back memories of the Barkley trade because we were losing young players I had grown to like but rolled with it because it was the Rockets.

In short, while I started off as a Rocket fan because of one player, it was very easy to fall in love with the team and become a Rocket fan as opposed to just a fan of player X.

this thread was made by a fan who likes Jeremy Lin and keeps getting his Rox fandom questioned but wanted to moderate a discussion about it.

you like Jeremy Lin, don't you?

It's kind of interesting to me when certain people here blame me for something I simply did not say, and instinctively think that this is all about them.

    A sign of a guilt conscience, perhaps?

You live in Houston, are you?

I only suggested that OP should ask more questions to broaden this discussion about what is a "really" or " true" Rox fan, if such a thing is even existed.

to call a thread a "lin fans bashing thread in disguise" that was made by a fan of Lin would suggest otherwise

no, why? do non contributing members not have access to that kind of information?

You have to live and love Houston sports to be a real Rockets fan IMO if you became a Rockets fan just last year cause of Lin or Harden I don't count that as real Rockets fans cause you late to the party

The Rockets represent the city of Houston. I rep my city and my team. You can try to twist it with your what if scenarios all you want to try to justify yourself, but you aren't fooling anyone.

That wouldn't be a FALSE ANALOGY, now would it? It can't possibly be, for there must be some mistake.

After all, we Rockets fans would not stoop to using faulty logic, since we are the very brightest fans in the NBA!

Dont care how are why u became a fan as long as you love the sport

    me

became a A. braves fan because of D.Justice in 1991

Became a Football fan because of Bo.Jackson and the cartoon he was in

Became a basketball fan because of my undeniable hate for Jordan and D.Robinson

Became a Penguins fan because of Lemieux, Jagr, and Francis

Became a Duke fan because of Hurley, Lateiner and Hill, and wanted to punch Mashburn in the face
