I have investigated making a move when I retire, which is sooner than later.

There are tons of places that would welcome me and my $$$.

Moving outside of the US does have some downsides. Seeing family on a regular basis would be harder. If grandkids happen, Mrs @No Worries does not want to be far away. Health care in retirement is also an issue.

I am now leaning toward "slow travel", which involves spending month(s) at a time in a foreign country, renting furnished apartments, running out the visa and moving on.

Canada is a great place If you live in lower mainland BC ,anywhere else ,one winter and your body will be covered with tattoos and you dye your hair green out of boredom.

Prepare to live in 1 or 2 bedrooms apartments unless you're Punjabi with 20-30 of healthy family members who can help you establish a company and build a house like this (roughly 15 houses like this built in the past 2 years) in my neighborhood

not bad but quite windy, last 3 weeks temp 20 degree below freezing, Edmenton is more laid back and friendly but 3 hours far from Jasper/Banff.

Speaking of friendliness: the Prairie Provinces are top on the list, BC will shock most people

Vancouver Island is hidden beauty if you don't mind remote lifestyle

BTW if it wasn't for the departure tax , I would had moved to Australia

Yeah I'd only consider Canada for proximity to family in the US. Within Canada, probably Calgary or Victoria.

Australia is absolutely elite, NZ is so damn tempting with it's nature but AU is just a better economic situation and thats reflected across all the wellbeing statistics.

Nordics and Switzerland are incredible situations, Ireland if you want Europe + english, some areas in the mediterranean if you don't care about the economy working remote or retired.

Everywhere else is a vacation destination for me, I don't think I'd fit in in Japan. Hope Chile keeps improving a nice country in the southern cone would be great.
