I was born in Hong Kong, but am now studying in England, and I wouldnn't mind living here if only the taxes aren't somewhere in the 40%, I mean JESUS, that's a hell lot when I'm from a place where tax is only 16%. Plus the pound is just so strong nowadays (or maybe the dollar is getting too weak) that it wouldn't be worth it to change my money into pounds because they could be worth less later.

I LOVE Ireland, I definitely wouldnt mind living there in a small town like Kilkenny or Kilarney, or even Dublin.

That's what I was thinking. Love the homeland.

I'd also love to live in Canada or Switzerland. Definitely the two most beautiful places I've ever visited. I loved how clean Switzerland was and the crisp air and wonderful candy. And the architecture. And the people were really nice there.

I've never been to Vancouver but I hear its badass. My family and I regularly go to Alberta to visit Banff and Lake Louise. Lake Louise is just surreal. Most beautiful lake I could ever imagine.

Canada would be an ideal choice, but it's way too cold...maybe the Northwestern Territories for the seclusion.

    Ajijic Mexico.

It has a nice American/Canadian community. 5000 ft elevation that brings in beautiful weather year round. Sits on Lake Chalupa surrounded by mountains. And only 45 min. south of Guadalajara...if I feel a need for the big city lights.

At one point we had an apartment there where we hung our hats when we went to visit, which is quiet regularly. We're so crazy about the place, in a few years after we get the home paid off, we'll spend about 5 years there enjoying the place, saving money and getting healthy.

Saving money. Since my office is any high bandwidth internet connection, we can move to Ajijic, wife can quit her job here, and we'd still save more money there than we could ever here. Plus having two rentals here in Denton can suppliment some loss of income on my wife's part.

Don't get me started on the health cost (cheap).

Will we retire there? That's what the 5 year stay will be about. But you know, I do love my TEXAS! and I do love my USofA.

Australia. Melbourne, or there abouts. Easy decision for me. Germany (Munich/Baveria) would be my second option.

It'd definitely be one of three places:
UK (my best friend lives there and we'd more than likely retire together)
    Germany (I've got family there)
Italy (why not? Who wouldn't want to retire there?)

just got back from merida. spent the holidays in the yucatan with the family. did chichen itza, progreso and attended a friends wedding on a hacienda in the middle of nowhere with mayan shaman performing the ceremonies. we stayed in an old colonial home in el centro and am thinking of buying the place. we were all floored. i really <3 merida.

Do you think if you lived in paradise you would get tired of it?
