Good choice. The climate is an integral part of Scotland, along with the lighting. We hope to spend some summers in Scotland and/or Ireland, Italy and France when the kids get a little older.
For those that have been to / lived in both Colorado (Denver/Boulder area) and Seattle, I'd be interested to hear which place you prefer. I've decided I want to move and am looking at those two spots.
Personally, I prefer Boulder over Denver. But between Boulder and Seattle... that's tough. If you ski, rock climb, camp, Boulder would be hard to beat. But Seattle has mountains, lakes, Olympic Pennisula, the Pacific, Vancouver, Victoria and the rest of British Columbia and Canadian Skiing. Oregon isn't far. Both are incredible, but if you cannot handle constant drizzle, opt for Boulder.
I've been told that the Pacific Northwest is the most beautiful place 6-8 months a year, but for 4-6 months in the winter it sucks. Agree? Obviously, Boulder over Denver, but the Boulder job market isn't quite as expansive as the Denver one.
Strangely enough, probably Houston. Maybe just outside Houston so things wouldn't be quite so crowded. At least I know people to hang out with in Houston, and there's a lot going on. Colorado, Montana, or Wyoming... but only for the summer.
Those were beautiful photos, SJC. If that's where you got started with English, they did a spectacular job!
Well, I can only really include the cities I've actually been to, which kind of narrows it down. 1. New York 2. Washington DC 3. Houston
Many thanks for the kind words...I think it improved more while I was in Houston, also, I prefer a Texas accent to the Scottish accent any time!!!
Paris Edinburgh (although that would be a bit hard because, on our honeymoon no less, my wife fell in love with any man that has a Scottish accent). San Fran - although I don't want to fall into the ocean.
what's up with people putting Zurich on their list? I went there in November...wasn't all that great compared to the rest of Switzerland...did i miss something?
Stunning scenery. Absolutely. As for the weather, many folk can't handle it. Purely personal preference. That kind of weather doesn't bother me.
