4 wins in a row without TMAC. 8-1 in the last 9 without TMAC. 15-6 on the season without TMAC (vs 20-15 with him). I'll take my chances.

This is a stupid thread. How the hell do you know T-Mac will come back and not have a surgery? This is all based on day dream.

    I agree with this though.

I don't know his ORL playoff appearances as well, but he was nails in pretty much every playoff game he played with the Rockets. I don't blame him at all for us not getting out of the first round the last couple years. He left it all on the court.

But moving forward, we need to address the holes in our roster that kept us from advancing. And T-Mac and the questions surrounding him have done nothing this year but hold us back.

It's sad for him since he's played so hard in the playoffs, but this year he's not the guy that's going to get us to the second round. In fact, his return would be the thing most guaranteed to prevent it.

    Well, here's my analysis.

First: T-Mac selfishly announced his injury in order to keep himself in a Rockets Uniform.
Oh, that's right! It's the night before the trading deadline and the front office is looking to move McGrady. What does he do? Announce to Stephen A. Smith that his season is over. Overnight, his value goes into oblivion. Why did he do this? Selfishness. He thought: "You try to screw me over (trade), watch what I do". T-Mac appears to have an ego larger than the State of Texas. Thus, he could not handle going from the Team's leader to ran out of town in a few years. Selfish human being.

Second: T-Mac does not know his role
T-Mac isn't here to run the show anymore. The truth is, Adelman's offense runs best when NOBODY "runs the show" T-Mac, news flash!! It's called team ball. You don't seem to get it.

Third: McGrady is over the hump?
I don't buy it. He's only 29. Last week at a local high school, I had a brief talk with JVG. He basically told me that you have to "get T-Mac going" and that he's "mentally weak".

With all this being said, I would gladly welcome a healthy Tracy McGrady back if...
...He talked with the FO and Adelman and accepted a new role. Ever heard the term Instant Offense? It's a 6th man off the bench that brings scoring to the second unit.

...We let him heal and then gave him 5-10 games to evaluate him.

...He plays defense. Remember his Toronto days? He was a defensive specialist. We know he has it in him...

...He moves without the ball and plays into Adelman's system.

...He shows us he is indeed healthy and ready to play!

I cant believe im going to say this but here it goes...

astros148, im going to agree with you. I agree because at this moment the Rockets are a great team without Tracy, but when people in here are talking about making it past the first round with out him.... I dont know about that.

Most of the players we have have yet been to the second round. This is a great team but second round is pushing it. We lack experience in the playoffs with this roster.

Now Im not saying Tracy is the answer because its not true, but we would really need a tracy to make it for the second round and beyond. Why do we limit this team to the second round?? Why not Finals... or Championship.

Winning the Title is the goal, not the second round. And to just say, we are going to the second round without mcgrady just to shove it in the guys face is just dumb. If you dont like the guy, just drop it. But fact is...

Winning the NBA title is the goal, and we need tracy..

I hate to say this but I'll welcome him back if he apologizes to his coach and teammates and respects whatever role Adelman gives him.

No way would i take t-mac back at 75%. That was probably where he was at a couple of weeks ago. I don't want to see him limping and letting his man pass him when playing Defense. Mcgrady can be a good defender but he doesn't have that passion to win. I'd only take t-mac back at 100%. I'm not happen of t-mac going in and out of games. Plays every other day. then decides to get surgery again. Well T-macs out for another year so we'll see what happens when he gets back. Hopefully he gets his fresh legs back so he can run up and down the court. (not jog). T-mac has lost a lot of athleticism but rely's more on his basketball IQ. Just seems like he gave up on this team and I'm glad he's getting surgery. No way we sign t-mac to another huge extension. I'd only start off at 13 mil.

Thank you for the compliment, sir.

However, here springs a debate. How can you say we have to get rid of Battier? Did you read THE ARTICLE ?

Battier must stay. IMO, he brings too much to the table as a teammate. And, as of late, he's shown us he can still shoot. We just need him to show us some consistency. A HEALTHY Battier is a great contributer to this team.

And he re-appears in the Thread after he finds someone that might agree with him.

If you want Tmac on this team, but you want to get rid of BATTIER you officially are out of your ******* mind.

What has Battier done that makes you want to out him?

I've defended Tracy McGrady all year long.

    "He's playing injured," said I.

"He can still score 20+ consistently," I grumbled.

"He's carried us to the playoffs in the past," I ignorantly stated.

    Finally I learned;

    1. His injuries have not only hampered his performances, but hurt the team in the process. The guy acts like he is still a superstar... continuing to take dumb shot after dumb shot and then when he doesn't play well... he simply blames it on his injuries.

    2. He has played with absolutely no heart for a lot of this season. I understand that he has tried to battle through injuries, believe me, I've noticed it... but it almost seems like he uses that as an excuse to not try hard. He would have a perfect chance to try and block a shot... but he will let up and allow the guy to score. He constantly gives up on fast breaks, and is so unwilling to play defense that it is baffling...

    3. Him carrying us to the playoffs in years past have absolutely nothing to do with this season. I completely appreciate the guy for helping this team get to the playoffs, but that was when he actually tried out there. Last season, when he came back from that injury during the streak, he was unselfish. He constantly passed up his own shots to give his teammates a good look... but he completely stopped doing that this season. Every time he touches the ball, it takes 8-10 seconds off the playclock, and it usually results in a horrible shot. Honestly, he's starting to remind me of the Steve Francis that we traded away. Remember when Steve used to dribble the ball flat and then finally try to run the offense? That's what Tracy is kind of like now.

Face it man, the guy isn't what he used to be. He's not even a team player anymore. He barely moves without the ball, takes horrible shots that we don't need, can't hit a meaningful shot to save his life, and gives minimal-to-no effort on the defensive end. It's time to move on.

Bull. We need the next Chucky Brown more than we need McGrady. We need the next Elie more. We need the next Eddie Johnson more.

We need guys who are happy to play within the system, who think of the team before themselves. McGrady is the opposite of that.

He is the only guy on our roster that's capable of scoring 13 points in a minute or whatever it was he did against the Spurs that one time, but he's also the only guy on our roster that can totally torpedo everything we're trying to do because he's in a bad mood.

Yao would never let his mood overtake his best effort. Nor would Brooks. Nor would even Artest, as big a head case as we've ever had, but a competitor through and through.

You never know, night to night, which Tracy is going to show up. He could be in perfect physical condition and you couldn't rely on him. We could be in game seven of a championship series and he could get a bee in his bonnet and blow the whole deal. He is in serious need of therapy. And he doesn't even know it. Until he gets that kind of help he will be a deficit to this team, and no surgery will fix that.
