82 people voted for Lin...I shudder if Royce White hadn't been on the list.

Is Clutchfans made up of LOHs then?

    Royce White. No contest.

Everyone else has EARNED their money.

What I'd really like to do is buy a Delorean, convert it, go back in time a year and void White's contract LAST summer.

Well, using per 36mins is probably not appropriate as both coach and Morey have stated that Lin's at his best when playing around 30 mins.

Anyway, so from 1-25 til the last game of the season, Lin averaged 15pts/6.2asts while shooting 46.1%(39.8% from 3s). I think it's a good indicate that he's gotten better as season went along, most importantly, 15/6 will surely land you a 8mil contract somewhere in this league as a 24 y/o PG.

"Hate" is getting to be a very overused word around here. When facts and opinions do not support your positive view of Jeremy Lin, it is not always due to "Hate".

Forgot to include: Royce White is my choice. If only there was a way to go back and erase drafting him.

What about when facts, stats, film and the best number crunching GM support a positive view of Jeremy Lin, what about then? If not hate what then? Stupidity?

I know the rest of my post will be taken as hate or whatever hot words are in use now, but I assure you I am content with Lin and his production. That being said...

SOME facts, stats and film support a positive view of Jeremy Lin.

The GM is not going to say the guy sucks. The only real evidence of whether Morey thinks he is good is if he re-signs him when his contract is up, other than that it COULD all just be lip service. And let's not forget that just because Morey believes he is good doesn't mean that it must be true. He's liked quite a few players that haven't panned out.

I'm not sure Lin was worth the $8.3m cap hit this year, but it was essentially a wash because we were nowhere near the cap anyway, his improvement and getting his first real offseason to work on his game rather than "searching for someone to give him a chance" or "rehabbing from injury" will see some improvement at his age/experience.

The question I look at it as, would someone take this player for nothing in return, Royce White is definitely no, we'd need to sweeten the pot, Lin is a maybe, might be closer to a probably.

The rest of the team are "absolutely definitely", all the way up to Harden who would net just about anything Morey would want besides Lebron and Durant.

Yes, it is 3 people. Old Man Rock was referring to this thread that he started, which was the "stupid" kneejerk overreaction to the thread we are in.

OMR was saying that "10%" just hate Lin because they voted they would rather cut him than White regardless of salary and cap (an important distinction). The 30% or so in this thread voting for Lin can make a legitimate argument why because cap is very much a factor.

Basically down to Lin vs white. Lin the entire year wasn't worth his 8 mil contact, but with improvement and consistency (continuing how he ended the season) he would definitely be worth his contract. On the other hand white is completely useless.

Can we do Scola's contract? If no then I choose White

First he wasn't an 18/7 player per 36 this past season.

Second, it isn't whether you can get another 18/7 point guard for 8 million. The question is would you rather have Lin and Robinson or Smith at PF with Beverly starting at PG? The money wouldn't have to be spent on a PG.

Last, Clutch didn't say Lin sucks, only that White and Lin are the only non super bargains.

I find the salary cap argument specious. If people are correct and the cap isn't going to go up to something like $80 million, then there is no way you can afford to get another superstar even if you get rid of Lin's contract, unless you also get rid of Asik, gut everyone making over league minimum, and then re-sign a bunch of scrubs to fill up the rest of your roster.

So unless that is really the argument people are making (Harden + Parsons + Two Superstars + Scrubs), then I don't buy that people are just looking for "value".

Objectively, Lin is more valuable than his contract. So if you want Morey to just point blank get rid of Lin and slot in, say, Beverley, then you are actually losing aggregate value on the team. Beverley may or may not be as good as Lin, but having the resources available doesn't mean that you can suddenly find some magical player to shove in that cap space. Just look at this past year's roster for proof of that - Morey had the space to sign a superstar but didn't because no one worth it was available.

So if Lin is gone, point-blank no-questions-asked, then what would you do with that money? Who would you sign with that money? Are you just going to sit on it? So what are we now in the business of looking out for Les's pocketbook? Wouldn't you just rather let Lin play so that we have that additional depth on the roster for when someone inevitably goes down?

If you don't really have an answer to this question, then yes, I'm going to take a step back and say that your decision-making here is a little bit suspect. Because all I'm seeing is a desire to get rid of a player with no real thought about what happens after that step other than "he's gone and Beverley is good enough to take his place".

Totally agree. The guy is a stand up guy, smart and works his but off and put up pretty satisfactory numbers for his first full season. Look at Rondo's numbers for the first few seasons and tell me how they compare LOH's...
