If you could reinvent the game of basketball, what would you change?

If they get rid of charges, a lot of players will get hurt but Dwight Howard would be open for a dunk every time after he flattens someone out with his giant shoulders.

 

harsher Flopping penalties
refs punished and/or fined for bad calls or missed calls
charging not a foul
4 point shot from halfcourt
dunks from a certain point on the court count as 3
pass that lead to an assist counted
-1 point for getting blocked
each basket during the last 2 minutes is worth 1 more point.
steam comes out of the basket every time the home team scores

 

Ridiculous.

How about an extra point if a white American makes a shot

The ball should have a sensor with clock that registers if the shot was on time or not, that way they dont loose time reviewing and theres no human mistake.
Also ill allow a lot more physical contact and suspend flopping for 5 games with 50k punish.

Believe it's been mentioned before by Kenny on TNT...

Get rid of conferences. Top 16 teams (regardless of division/conference) make the playoffs and are seeded according to record.

Also, eliminate back-to-backs & 4 games in 5 nights BS by reducing the regular season to 50-ish games. Playoffs are when true stars are made anyway.

One last thing... permanently remove Joey Crawford from the NBA. (not a joke)

Almost forgot... get rid of guaranteed contracts. Make it like the NFL where guaranteed $$ is given soley via signing bonuses (which do not affect a team's cap).

Everything else is earned by on-court performance that's evaluated every preseason. No more coasting. Basically, a modified version of the current Amnesty provision -- yet applicable to all players -- not just one.

 

Minor one, but get rid of the kicking the ball violation. What is the point of it? If the defender blocks the ball with his foot, why not? Why do we need to stop the game because of it.

Team getting fouled has option of removing 24 seconds from clock and getting to inbound the ball.

 

Raise the goal to 12 feet to encourage shooting. Maybe James Naismith didn't know any seven footers back then. But dunking, in most cases, looks weak. Basketball is about scoring and ability to shoot well gives the aesthetic aspect of the sport.
