If I have a good paying job, I would like to try NYC.

See if it is anything like in the movies.

I'd probably pick somewhere a nice mountain town in Colorado - Steamboat, maybe Aspen (which I know can be pretentious but as a tourist it's felt great). But it's really hard to pick one, as I just haven't had the opportunity to visit/live everywhere to decide. So, to list a few:

    Steamboat/Aspen or the like
Austin - moved here 4 months ago
    Carmel
    Seattle

Honestly, the best for me would be a city that doesn't exist but is a combination of Austin and Seattle.

I had only visited Seattle during glorious weather, but then 9 months ago went out to Portland in mid November for 2 days and never saw the sun once. It was my first time in Portland, and I still really came away loving the city, but I just can't imagine 9 months of that type of weather, even if the sun still does pop out here or there. Alternatively, it apparently never rains in Austin, and is never below 100 degrees!

I admittedly put more emphasis on natural beauty, weather and outdoor activity than some, but they are important to me.

So perhaps the summer place in the Pacific Northwest may work out for me in 20+ years...
