There was this dip that insisted on making a left turn from the middle lane of Guadalupe. He was trying to turn onto 29th. There's only one turn lane, but this dipstick didn't want to go up a few blocks and turnaround. He just sat there until someone let him in. I and another car missed the light because we couldn't get over. I honked, but I was two cars away, so I doubt he gave a crap. Selfish, selfish drivers. Students have alot to do with it. Austin traffic is getting bad, from Georgetown all the way down to Lakeway.
Eh, its more like 100 miles from the actual inner city of LA. SB is a little too foggy for me, they get that marine layer so much and when it finally clears up, the sea breeze kicks in. Plus the average cost of a home is $900,000 dollars. I'm 50 miles north of SB 10 miles off the coast. here's to 65 degrees year round and 9 month no-rain spells. But I hate California with a passion, the real estate prices are too high, and most of the people I loathe, too many tree huggers, but I'll stop there because this isn't the D&D forum.
Right now, Barcelona. Perhaps Florence or Rome. Or Miami. Actually, pretty much anywhere outside of Central Africa, Iraq, Afghanistan and comparably unattractive regions.
For me it would be this place in Dubai: http://www.palmisland.co.ae/swf/main.html Absofreakin beautiful!!!! You can purchase a villa with your own freakin private beach!!!
Houston, no question. And the irony is that I don't get to live in Houston. (so count your blessings... I left for the sake of my career, which is not one in which you can pick out where you want to live. I figured I should at least give it a shot. But, if I don't succeed, I'll find a way to get back to Houston as a consolation prize.) I am sooooo glad to be out of Austin (spent >5 years there). I don't like crowded places. My bank account doesn't like expensive places. I would complain about the drivers too, but the only time anyone ran into me that whole time was in San Antonio instead of Austin. Right now I live out in the sticks, completely off the radar... at least it's not crowded, and driving at 5 p.m. is similar to driving at any other time. On the other hand, I'm not going to have a life anytime soon.
If it were permanent I would choose to stay in Houston because I'm used to it, and no how navigate around the city. If it were like a vacation or a home away from home I think Sydney, Australia. I've never been to Australia, but have wanted to go there ever since I was a kid. They have some of the best beaches, and the girls there are the hottest in the world!
What about driving anywhere near campus? Drivers suck, yes; but pedestrians are freaking r****ded! 50,000 students receiving $40,000 educations, yet not a damn one of them has learned how to cross a freakin street. They should have mandatory freshmen classes at UT such as: Defensive Walking Crossing The Street Looking Both Ways Respecting Your Own Life 1301 Respecting Your Own Life 1302 - Big Ass Machines Will Kill You, Not Vice Versa
I have always been fascinated with Australia...but Im not sure if I would want to live there. Maybe for a while..but I would miss Houston. I would still choose Houston, I hate driving in snow...It is convienently located near Relaint Stadium and Toyota Center...The coldest it gets in the winter is in the 40's. and my family is all here.. So...have no fear Smeg..This ugly American is staying here.
Hey!Why's that? I lived for several years in central Africa(Cameroun to be precise) and my parents still live there! I couldn't find any other place I would want to be! Sure it's an "uncivilized" continent, but once you get used to it you don't want to leave! Clear blue water, easy life(work and socialy) and tons of places to visite(educational or to relax). Very adventurus life I tell you! If any of you have the occasion to work in Africa(central or western) I advise you to jump the gun!(?) As for the city I'd choose,it would be Libreville(Gabon) or Dakar(Senegal)! ALA
