I can't believe this- People are picking Tim Duncan when they could just slide Hakeem to Power Forward! Shocking!

Aren't we talking teams, surely role and bench players are needed, there is no way any of these teams above could exist without killing each other from ego overdose and lack of shots or playing time. And as far as i can remember when picking a team the salary cap is important.

Where are the Luc Longleys, the Bill Catwrights, the Michael Coopers, Bill Lambeers, Scott Brooks, Vinnie Johnsons, Phil Jacksons, Charles Jones' and numerous other role and bench players that contribute just as much to winning titles?????????

    The Original Dream Team
The greatest collection of basketball players ever assembled. Except I would boot Karla Malone and replace him with the Big O and boot Snottie Quitten and replace him with Kareem.

Dr of Dunk, well if you really need me to explain how is this: He is the best basketball player of all-time and I'd say that pretty much makes him my starting 2.

    How that???

I want to run and dunk. I want to play agressive D and pick off every pass. I want blocked shots, quick outlets, and beautiful assists. I want speed everywhere. I want guys that know how to play. I want to overwhelm the opposition. All my players are in their prime. I am not bound by positions:

    Jordan
    Magic
    Drexler
    Dr. J
    Hakeem

    Reserves:
    Pistol
    Big O
    Russell
    Bird
    Barkley
    Shaq
    Kurt Rambis

(When I was in my prime--and not bad for a big, slow, white guy who couldn't jump and wore glasses--the brothers called me "Billy P." after the big Whopper. I was ecstatic when Rambis came along and my playground moniker changed to "Rambis." No offense intended to Mr. Paultz who was a heck of a player, but I always appreciated Kurt for getting me away from the Paultzian image and so he's on my team.)

My team could beat any of yours. Screw positions.

    Jamal Crawford
    Larry Hughes
    Joseph Forte
    Gerald Wallace
    Eddie Griffin

    Mike Miller
    Eddie Robinson
    Kelvin Cato
    Richard Jefferson
    Troy Murphy
    Alton Ford
    Harold Miner

Team Waterboys: Jason Collier, Matt Bullard, and any other player without mad hops.

Imagine the dunks these guys could do in practice! We even have the reverse windmill dunker!

You guys best get your teams off the court, cause these ballas are about to bust you up fools!

Dream never played PF. In his earlier years he did not have the offensive skillz to play away from the basket. But he probably would have been as good if not the best at some point in his career. Certainly he had the skillz in the 90's to play PF.

When we may have been able to pick Moses Malone in late 80's, he said he would be willing to slide to PF. that is the only PF talk I've heard about him.

C-Hakeem-IMO(With Rocket Glasses on of course)the best center ever.
PF-Garnett-Sure Malone is a better PF, but I hate him. [IMG]
SF-Bird-Easily one of the top 5 offensive players ever, not to mention he was a perenniel All-D team contender in his day
    SG-Jordan-Pretty obvious choice
PG-Magic-The best basketball distributor ever running the point for this team would kick ass.

    Bench
    C-Jabbar-Close second in my book
PF-Russel-C and PF are so interchangable that he could easily slide in here
SF-Dr. J-Great Scorer, good defender perfect backup to Legend
SG-Clyde-Kind of bad move seeing as how Clyde and MJ were pretty much identical players...
    PG-the Big O-Mr. Triple Double
11th-Chuckster-Had to give him a spot. Wilt was probably the better player, but players on vj23k's team have to be able to shoot their freethrows
12th-Jerry West-Probably better than Drexler, but have never seen him play for more than 2 minute clips.

Okay, while i know I'm gonna get creamed for this, I'm NOT going with a line up of solid stars, I'm looking for guys to fill roles...Remember when we had Joe Barry Carroll, Olajuwon, Floyd, McRae, ect? And what a great team that was until they enforced that silly rule about only using one ball at a time...Anyways, here we go...Oh, wait, I'm only gonna put guys on my team that I've seen play, I mean, I hear that Mikan (!?!) was hell on rollerskates, but...

PG) Magic Johnson. God, I hope you have some concept of how hard it is for me to pick a Laker....

SG) Joe Dumars. I think he was a better complimentary player than Pippen without the press. Great D, passed and handled like another PG, could score as much as was needed, and was one of the best team players I've ever seen. Only downside was he was only 6-3, but that didn't stop him from giving Jordan fits...

SF) Ok, since we're in the realm of fantasy here, I'm gonna go one further...Danny Manning as he would have been without the knee injury his rookie year. Very close to the most complete all around talent I've ever seen, and his NCAA performance should have vid clips under the word " Leader."

PF) Charles Barkley. Because he's the biggest physical anomaly I've ever seen, deserved to be on a championship, could get as hot as anyone ever, and cause the rest of these guys are so classy, we'd need someone to get quotes from.

    C) Bill Russell...ok, I fudged a bit here, didn't really see much of him as a player, but on this team I'd want my C to play ferocious D, rebound, outlet, and cackle....Oh, and collect rings...And I hear Russell did those things a lot...

Bench) Not gonna have a full bench, just a few guys...Paul Pressey, Jeff Hornacek, and Jayson Williams before he got hurt....In case Chucky hurts his jaw and can't talk...

Ok, there you have it, NOT my favorite players, or my pick for best at each position, just a team I think would have been incredible together, with each fullfilling specific roles...Hakeem AND Clyde would both be on my favorites, for example...
    Any comments?

-Good call ZRB. These must be people who never saw Hakeem in his prime. Hakeem clearly had the athleticism and all around game to play PF, if not SF. He's only about 20 times the defender Duncan is and a better offensive threat as well. I don't think even our resident Spurs fans would say Duncan is as good as Olajuwon was.
