I wouldn't want him cut, but Burkman has been pretty awful after that great start... What was that stat I cought from CNN... 10 rbi's in the past 2 months? ugh!
Because he's our most consistent hitter this year? Because he's a Houston icon that's shown nothing but a willingness to make sacrifices for his team? Because he's obviously got some pop in his bat? He won't start if he comes back, I'm guessing, but he'd be an outstanding player off the bench. Please don't come back with irrelevant playoff numbers, please.
Wow. I would have to say that I wouldn't bring him back if he wanted to start, but I don't think he'll want to. JMHO.
Absolutely! I think that I have benefitted from this site as much as anyone else. It is time for me to contribute and give back also. I will definitely have Clutchfans.net events and specials during happy hours.
haha...nah..not this time. I just think it's time to move on and start the youth movement. The team isn't going to go to a world series anytime soon with this group of players. The window has closed for Biggio and Bagwell, but yet the astros still rely on these two pretty regularly. It's time to start over, why delay it just so we as fans can see Biggio play a year or two more of decent hitting? I never really considered Biggio coming off the bench though, because I dont think he would want that. If he's ok with coming off the bench, I'd keep him around then since younger players would still get to play a lot..
He just seems like he could be one of those Bill Spiers type sparks off the bench. For some reason, that really fits the image I have of him, so it doesn't bother me like watching Bagwell suffer or Hakeem suffer, you know? By all means, if he demands to start, I'd say it's time to move on, however hard that's gonna be personally.
I would cut the top dog, Drayton McLane. RM95, I suggested Biggio off the bench as a utility player a while back, I definitely like that idea.
Ausmus obviously isn't helping our crappy pitchers, so all that intangible talk is just false. The guy is a liability. And he doesn't even throw out runners like he used to.
Last year, I would have said Biggio. But I've been impresed with what he's done this year. Not only accepting to move from one position to another but his batting is better than last year. Right now i would cut Kent. Let's face it, he ain't gonna be here next year.
I voted for kent because I think we need to start seeing some of these guys in the minors. I'm not aware of a Bigtime 1B coming up but i know burke is waiting in the wings. Also I WANT AUSMUS AROUND!!!.. we've got some young talanted pitchers in our staff and our window has effectively closed so while we're going to be rebuilding nobody can deny that he can HANDLE a pitcher. Let him teach this young staff to pitch he calls a great game no matter what ya'll think about his defense or his bat. Mike
Well, we already got rid of one coach this season and replaced him with a token former-Astro replacement. Can I cut the token?
