Morey has never finished building the team. The team now has a lot of assets collected to to aquire a star player, remember?
Natives are getting restless. Which means one of two things.. Morey is taking real long or its not working out. I would like to think its the former but am not optimistic my decision is correct.
Listen to the NBA today podcast right now on ESPN.com. Ryan Russilo talks about Morey's position and just that there is no star available and thats pretty much it. He has done a really great job of positioning the team to be in a great place to trade for a star player, but Yao's injury and the lack of available stars killed any deal. If Yao was healthy it would have made Houston a much more attractive location for a star player to want to join. The nice thing is though, is that the Rockets can stay competitive while having ridiculous flexibility and quality picks this summer. Rebuilding while staying competitive is one of the hardest things for an NBA franchise to do. This team underperforming and Yao Ming's injury are the main reasons why this team is in mediocreville this season. The great news is that Morey has no gone all Isiah Thomas on us and got this team tied up in bad contracts and sold off all our draft picks. This team is set up with a bright future thanks to Mr. Statitics himself.
If I were Morey I would bathe in 20 dollar bills.... And keep doing my job the way I am and hope people give me more time before they talk mess about something they know nothing about...
