with 5 games left for both memphis and minni, it is still possible for minni to win out their last 5 against beatable opponents and jump memphis who has got what looks like the most brutal schedule left.. tpups are 4 games back and can't tie because they lost the season's head to head..

there can be so many different scenarios, it hurts to try to comprehend all of them, and with every night a certain game will change all the scenarios again.. better not to think about it.. let's just sit back and enjoy the final stretch knowing we're guaranteed into the playoffs

This thread is giving me a headache; it is like reading a Chinese novel (you need a scorecard to keep the names straight).

yeah, we want it. You have to keep in mind that anything can happen in round one, so home court in the first round could quickly turn into home court in another round. huge advantage when you need that lift. No matter how bad we played, we want to sleep in our own beds, and we'll need that lift when things are tight.

Of course you theoretically want it, but our team seems to be susceptible to a lack of focus when at home and not so much on the road. I think it will be fairly meaningless to the fate of this particular team.

Anything can happen, maybe New Orleans could give some of what they gave us last time to the Sonics huh.

Problem is, is almost everyone gonna go to Toyota Center screaming or just sit there?

Sleep in your own bed is good.

You always want home court. If a series goes to a 7th game, the odds are heavily in your favor if you're the home team.

Here are likely scenarios after tonight's games:

The Rox: Win out and go 3-0. Finish 51-31. The hardest games are the Nuggets and Sonics. Since the Sonics have Rashard Lewis & Fortson back tonight, this could be a really tough game. I like the way we match up with them but it will take an "A" game performance to win.

The Kings go 2-2: Lose to Phoenix twice (home & away) and beat the LAL and Utah on the road. Finish 50-32.

The Nuggets go 2-2: Lose to Rox and Suns and beat the Jazz & Blazers at home. Finish 49-33.

The Grizzlies are locked in at #8 (forget Minny), whatever their final record, and they will be lunchmeat for the Suns in Round 1.

IMO, the most likely outcome is the Rox finish #5 and play the Mavericks.

If the Nuggets win here Saturday, all three teams could finish with the same 50-32 record! The Kings would be #5 because they win the three way tiebreaker of having the best record of head to head competition between the three teams. The Nuggets beat the Rox out for #6 because they win the season series 2 to 1. The Rox go to #7 and play the Spurs (probably).

Bottom line: The Nuggets game on Saturday could mean the difference between finishing #5 or #7.

It's unlikely the Rox finish #6. I won't bore everybody with the scenarios but the odds of it based on the remaining schedules are low. One way would be for us to lose to Denver and finish 50-32, Sacramento blows up it's last 4 games and finishes with 49 or 50 wins (we win a TWO WAY tiebreaker with them), and Denver beats Phoenix and finishs 51-31.

If denver can beat us on Sat, I would give them a fair chance (they can beat the suns) to finish the last few game undefeated and ends up at 5. Sac lose both games to the Suns and finish 7th. Rox only loss has to be to Denver and finishes at 6 and play seattle in the first round in case we can beat Seattle in our last home game.
