If we were to trade Yao or T-mac, what package would be acceptable?

If we could find a way to move for Artest then IMO we'd be wanting to get Brad Miller too. Miller would be OUTSTANDING insurance for the times that Ming goes down injured.

Battier, BJax, Hayes the rights to Sura (or throw in Loren woods and Mike Harris?) for Miller and Artest?

We'd be relieving the Kings of Miller's 2 more years @ 12million each, and taking on Artest so that they can play Salmons. In return they pick up expiring contracts and Battier (whose deal is half that of Millers).

We'd have a strong frontcourt then with Artest, Scola and Ming backed up by Landry and Miller.
Alston and McGrady in the backcourt backed up by Brooks, Francis and Head might need some addressing!

But I'd pull the trigger on something like that in a heartbeat just because it gives us such great depth and flexibility should Ming OR McGrady go down injured (as they are prone to do).

I'd take dirk for yao. Dirk get back from injuries faster and has taken his team to the finals. I don't hate dirk as much as I hate boozer.

I would do the Tmac for Redd/Williams trade in a heartbeat. Good PG and the best shooter in the league. No way Milwaukee does that.

Keep Tmac and wait until his 20 mil is off the books and get two 10 million dollar players!!! Or just sign Lebron!

    Atlanta

    tracy mcgrady
    brooks

    for

    joe johnson
    speedy claxton
    josh smith
    and 1st round pick(s)

    Boston

    Paul Pierce
    Brian Scab.

    for

    Tracy

this trade would be possible, if boston loses 1st round or 2nd.

    Charlotte

    Okafor
    Carrol (5 mill contract)
    Wallace

    for

    Tracy
    Hayes

    Chicago

don't see any valuable trade... that would help either team that is not lopsided.

    Cleveland

don't see any valuable trade... that would help either team that is not lopsided.

    Dallas

the op's trade, does sound pretty darn good, but i would be very hestitant about howard. howard has been great in the beginning of this season, but settle down lately.

    Denver

    Iverson

    for

    Tracy

this trade would have to involve a 3rd team dealing with the needs of both denver and us's big hole after this trade.

    Detroit

    Billups
    Prince

    for

    Tracy

this trade would be a superstar for 2 lower level but all star players. i like this trade, cause this would open up battier for other trades.

    Golden State

don't see any trade good for both these teams.

    Indiana

don't see any trade good for both these teams.

    Dirk Nowitzki???

Have you been watching the Dallas games? He is just like TMac who takes lame fadeaways and jacks up three pointers at the worst possible momments.

    Dirk = TMac.

Are you guys blind? Think about the primary criticisms that Tracy and Yao are getting right now being this team (being soft, doesn't take it to the basket, doesn't play well in playoffs, injury prone, etc., etc.)

Those are the same traits on all these players in these proposed trades:

-Bosh: a perimeter-oriented big man, definitely not a power player.
-Dirk Nowitzki: he is soft, shies away from contact, and is a definite CHOKER in the playoffs (and really, how can anyone like this guy?)
-Josh Howard: like Dirk he is choking it up in the playoffs
    -Michael Redd: strict JUMPSHOOTER
    -Baron Davis: INJURY prone

Now, those are just traits that these player have in similarity to Tmac/Yao. In giving these players a fuller analysis, you can other flaws in their game:

-Most these guys aren't playmakers: Redd 3.4 apg, Howard 2.2 apg, Nowitzki 3.5 apg, Bosh 2.6 apg...compared to Tmac 5.9 apg
-Bosh and Redd have been in the EAST their whole careers
-Only few these players have been considered as MVP candidates this year...whereas Yao AND Tmac have been considered at some point this season
-None are taller than 7' 6''

Really, would we be any better if we traded Tmac or Yao for any of these players?

I wouldn't do this trade at all!!! From our point of view, this is a bad trade proposal. Paul Pierce?! Boston had like worst or 2nd to worst record last season with Pierce being the main man of the team, him doing basically what Tracy is doing at the moment with Yao out. and Brian Scalabrine is only a 1.8 point 1.6 Rebound guy from ten minutes per game on average, and so obviously he's not fitting of our needs and wants. We should perhaps target DeSagana Diop as a back-up centre this off-season as he's a restricted free agent or something.

I know my opinions are a bit biased, cos I think its best for the team to keep T-Mac. But don't we already have Yao, and Okafor is another starting centre? so how is okafor going to get meaningful minutes?
I think many of us wouldn't want to give up T-Mac for A.I.

Never trade YAO, it's not an option.

Send McGrady to New Jersey, join his cousin in comfort with their "B" grade effort

If McGrady goes to Jersey he' be going for Carter... Have you seen Carter play this season? He's been among the best 2s since Kidd left. He averaged 17 ppg on 39% shooting the first 2 months of the season because of the ankle injury and brought his average up to 21/6/5 on 46/36/81 on one leg after Kidd left (just had surgery on his ankle). He had an 11 game stretch right before he closed the season out where he averaged 32/7/9/2/1 on 50/45/90 from the floor.

I wouldn't exactly call him out for giving a B grade effort. lol.... I hate it when people associate negative stigma with players when it's anything but true.

Can't anyone just wait till our offseason has officially begun before engaging in such discussions?

    Random trade threads already?

If I had to get rid of one, it would be McGrady. We've already seen what a lack of post presence can do.

I'd like a deal that included both Josh Smith and Joe Johnson. I think they would be great in Adelman's offense.

Here's a fantasy rule that applies outside of it also:

If you are a bad team looking to improve, trade up in number. Dilute the talent.

If you are a good team looking to improve, trade down in number. Concentrate the talent.

The Rockets are championship contenders if completely healthy. No trade for Yao or T-Mac makes sense unless we can concentrate our talent. That means someone better than either of those two. Not happenin.

Dirk averaged 27 and 12 this year in the playoffs. He has put up better numbers than Yao ever has.
