I'd trade Yao for just 1 or 2 years of Dream in his prime. Then I'd have to change my moniker from Yaozer to Dreamer

A friend and I were talking about BD for Tracy last night whil watching the game against the Clips, that's eerie to see a thread the next morning.

Something to keep in mind - Baron contract expires after next season. With Bobby J's contract coming off of the books as well, if we sent Tracy + filler to GS for BD we would have shed nearly 24 million off of our salary cap in two moves. THAT would be someting.

Here's a few of the potential unrestricted free agents after next season -

    Josh Smith
Luol Deng (already turned down extension)
    Jason Kidd
    Allen Iverson
    Rasheed Wallace
Elton Brand (if he does not opt out this summer)
Shawn Marion (if he does not opt out this summer)
Andre Iguodala (already turned down extension)
    Andre Miller
    Ron Artest
    Anthony Parker

Needless to say clearing that kind of cap space would make us a major player in the free agent market. For some of ya'll to say that this trade is ridiculous or would never happen is short sighted. To Les, it is and always will be a business, and if any move can both benefit the team AND save money in the long run, he has the guts to approve it.

We would still have a great core built around Yao, and with Rick at the helm anything is possible. If anything, we've proven we can win with less talent this year so a deal like this would not be too far fetched.

MacYao, I hope someone like you becomes the GM of the Jazz, Mavs, or Lakers.

McGrady is not going anywhere. He will be here at least through the remainder of his contract. Which works out just fine with big free agent guards/forwards becoming available over that summer.

Moreover, I can't blame any of the guys if we get bounced out in the first round again this year. Logic says that if we couldn't beat Utah with Yao last year, it's unlikely that we will this year. But I am hoping for a 'miracle' and will enjoy the rest of our season regardless of the outcome.

The Rockets could have Francis grow a beard next season and call it the next best thing to actually getting Baron. No trades necessary.

Dont be surprised to see Baron signed and traded to the Lakers next year.

Maggette would fit perfect in the Rockets system. Hes selfless enough to buy into the whole defensive mentality. Gives you another slasher that can create his own shot. He lives at the free throw line, and you could bring Battier off the bench for a boost. The problem with the Rockets is TMAC handles the ball too much. Sort of like Lebron and the way Kobe use to. With a healthy Yao the Rockets could make noise next year if they pick up a guy like Maggette, but dont expect too much this year.

i'd love to see a guy like maggette here but he is going to want more money than the rockets can spend.

I don't know why some people would prefer to have GS top players vs. our own top players. GS just missed the playoff after barely making it last year. They are more sizzle than steak.
As bad as people like to think tmac and alston are. We have been very competitive in the past two years in a conference that needs 50 wins just to get in playoff.

So, Baron to Lakers, Odom to Miami, and Marion to GS???
