They were not showcasing him, they were trying to find out if he was willing to play THEIR style, the style they have to play without Yao, a run and gun, move the ball and your body style.

On offense it was mixed some good, some bad, on defense he was a disaster....

Sorry, Tracy did not want to adapt, he had multiple chances, and blew them all.

No worries, he will get back to a better spot next season, but he still won't be a winner.

like I said before. LET HIM ROT.

we'll sabotage his FA price like he ruined our trade possibilities last season.

    **** Him.

If he suits up and gets hurt, we are screwed for any trade. I don't know what the team options are if he gets hurt while "not with the team" if there is an insurance parachute for them to use or not, have no idea. Teams saw that he could get on the court and was recovering...that was enough of a taste for teams to actually think about taking on his salary for possibly more than the cap. The teams first priorty is to make the team better for next year, and if that ends up helping the team on the back half of the season by getting players that can contribute then it's icing on the cake.

Tmac asked for the leave of absence and trade as discussed numerous places including here: http://blogs.chron.com/nba/2009/12/

Tmac could have continued to play 6-7 minutes and potentially earn more, but
As for the two games where Tracy decided to go home rather than play prior to his trade request and official leave of absence:

If there is no trade, a buy-out for $4 million less than the salary he is otherwise due makes sense for both parties and is more valuable to the team than holding an option for a sign-and-trade for a player who can't showcase his skills. I see no other outcome besides a trade or a buy-out coming.

No DD, its not that he didnt play THEIR style....... He did, just not for long..... T-Mac just wanted more minutes, sigh...... Mcgrady was just not in the plans from the get go... What happened was going to happen despite w/e Mcgrady did on the floor, example is the Clippers game... We were both on the chat that night and we both agreed he earned more minutes....

I said in Tmac's case +/- probably didn't mean anything. We saw how he played, and he wasn't nearly his former self. That's enough to justify very little minutes for him.

If Tmac needed time to adjust, asking for more playing time only hurts the team. He wasn't ready do play big minutes on the court, but he didn't want to play little minutes, so he decided to shut it down. Nothing wrong from RA's part.

    I second this.

People don't realize Tmac doesn't play defense, he basically just tells other players to do all the dirty work while he basically stays on the offensive end, dominating the ball and waiting for a screen to take a 22 foot 2 pointer.
