This is where Morey is starting. Then I wouldn't be surprised if he went to New Orleans and made an offer for Chris Paul. Then he goes to Bosh. But the first day of free agency, it would not surprise me at all if Morey is either on Lebron's doorstep or if there is a big gift from the Rockets on Lebron's doorstep. If Lebron decides he wants to leave Cleveland (big if), the Rockets will have to be at the top of his list along with the Lakers, Knicks, Miami, and Chicago. Once the Lebron saga plays out, then we go to Bosh.
The risk on Randolph is a lot lower than the risk on Amare. Committing big money to Amare and then he blows out, that could turn into another Zach Randolph killer. With Randolph, we'd have 2 seasons to evaluate him and watch him improve. As far as young big men in the draft, Jordan Hill, etc., I think Randolph is a way better talent than anything I've seen. I'd take him over Cousins/Monroe/Whiteside for sure.
This is where I stopped reading. My guess is that Daryl Morey does not share your apathy towards player contracts. (Seriously, I love Emeka. But he's got one of the worst contracts in the entire NBA.)
Each to their own.. I'd rather have any of those three over him - and that's not a knock on Randolph's game.
I'm too lazy to check and post it here, but Bosh was quoted in an article from yesterday (I'm sure it's on hoopshype and other places), something along the lines of "overhyping the summer of 2010" and all these free agents leaving. There was a little more, it was low-key stuff, which amounted to how difficult it will be for players to leave their teams. I know people say things and then change their minds, but I won't count on acquiring Bosh. Toronto would become a backwater without Bosh. If the Raptors managed to trade Bargnani for more of a "true" center (Bogut? Jefferson?), or, at least, for some dudes who play defense, they'd be a half-way decent team. Stoudemire is the "gettable" player. Taking into consideration the talent, the health issues, the contract extension ($$$$$).....ugh. I don't know how tough of a call it will be. I do know Les and Morey won't balk at the TV time the Rockets get with Stoudemire. The Suns are ALWAYS on TV. Stoudemire's dunks aren't as rim-rattling as his early years, but they keep the Suns on TV.
If we could not get Bosh I hope we go after Boozer instead of Amare. Boozer has mid-range game that nobody in the league can match. He's a double double machine more so than Scola and is SUPER efficient. Have you seen his FG% lately in the past 5 years. Boozer doesn't rely on his Athleticism as much as Amare to get his points which is a plus. Why because if somehow Amare lost a step he wouldn't be as good.. Have to think who would have a better career here in Houston within those 4 or 5 year span. Amare or Boozer?
Al Jefferson reportedly will be available this summer if Minny finds a good, young and talented Shooting forward. A package of Ariza/Jeffries+NY picks for Jefferson maybe? Actually I dont want to give up Ariza when Yao comes back, a three-team trade with a good sf can raise the possibility.
I would have Al on my list behind Bosh and Randolph. I don't think he fits next to Yao since he is a low post forward. But, Yao does have the versatility to move out to the high post. So, I could see it working that way. And Jefferson is an asset that could be moved later to a team like Toronto if Bosh takes his option for next season then announces sometime next year that he isn't going to re-sign with Toronto. A package of Al Jefferson and somebody else would make for a good swap to Toronto in that eventuality.
If one of Moreys reasons of trading Landry was because the concerns of his knee, then I don't see why he would go after Amare...who's going to demand a larger contract than Landry (Starter, All-star) I honestly believe that the reason Morey went after Amare was because of all the money they would save from Battier, and Scola's contracts....to not only have those future draft picks, but STILL have the flexibilty in the cap space to do even more damage in the offseason.
I like that order....I'd probably take Randolph over Amare because of his versitility and will probably come cheaper.
Al Jefferson is going to get moved IMO and knowing Morey never quite does what is expected this could be the move that goes down. Everyone will focus on Bosh and Amar'e but AL Jefferson would be IDEAL next to Yao and in case Yao breaks down then Jefferson can slide right over to the 5 or as you have laid out be bait for Toronto to give up Bosh. Big Time Targets: Bosh Jefferson Amar'e Fall Back Options: Randolph Boozer
with Amare having an expiring contract....maybe I should have added that Or maybe he would have signed and traded him to the Warriors for Randolph and Maggette....who knows

I don't think you understand what an efficient scoring big does for your team. 2nd or 3rd option?? You cannot be serious. This guy gets double-teamed night in and night out on a crap team, and he still puts up monster numbers. Imagine what he would do for a team with Kevin Martin and Yao Ming on it....he would open up things so much for everyone else on the team. He's the EPITOME of what you build a championship contender around.
I wouldnt give up that much for Randolph, Jeffries and Taylor or some1 else but if we gave that much up some1 better be accompanying him
Sending the 2010 1st and Hill for Randolph would seem like a fair trade for both sides. Morey has had his eyes on Randolph for a while now. Morey usually gets what he wants. I expect a S-N-T that the Rox end up with a major piece of the puzzle this offseason. (Bosh)
drugs? illegal problems? where are you basing this information from? whats ur sources? any1 can jus throw around around ill advised false allegations those that talk out out their ass with concrete evidence are plain idiots
I don't know if this matters in our situation, but while watching NBA Fastbreak last night, I heard it mentioned that Bosh does not want to go where there is another superstar player. IE, he does not take kindly to sharing the spotlight or scoring option with another top-tier, ego-bigger-than-the-building player. Don't know if having Yao on this team means he would balk at coming here or if he would avoid teams like Lakers, Heat or Cavaliers. Personally, I want someone who can play at a high level but put his ego aside for the good of the team. Are there any superstar-caliber players out there that fit that role? Oh, that's right, the only one I can think of is already on our team, rehabbing.
I'm not sure, but I don't think David Lee is even much of a possibility. NY is suppose to renounce thier rights to him in order to make room for 2 big free agents. I can't imagine they could then do a SnT somehow. Maybe they'll realize they won't get 2 FAs, and opt to retain rights. Then it's possible, but I suspect Lee will go a team below the cap who didn't get what they wanted. If not there, is it possible he could be had for MLE?
