If Dal and NO are 1:1 each other, which is probally gonna happen. then, Dal 1:3 NO, NO 0:3 Jass, Jass 2:2 Dal Dal 3:5, NO 3:4, Jass 5:2 when these three teams are tied. So Jass will be the 6 spot, the other two teams be the 7 and 8 spot. The Jazz will probably lose 2 more games at most. If Cle win all the games, then Fakers could even lose to Jass. If we dont wanna face Jass in the first round, we better lose at least one more games to Dal or NO. Better not take the 3 spot for the Rox!
Here's a question that I was throwing out amongst some friends. Our last game of the season is against Dallas. If tanking that game and letting Dallas win meant pushing Utah to 8th and forced into facing LA in the first round, would you be willing to tank that game or "rest your starters" I think I would.
What we really need is someone to take out the Lakers. Then someone take out the Jazz. Cause at least we can beat the Jazz in Houston, with homecourt advantage (theoretically), and can possibly steal one in Utah if the Stars get aligned right. But the Lakers are another story; we are, if you haven't checked, 0-4 against them. However, I count on LA breaking down with injuries/fatigue before the WCF, since they played so many games last year.
We play an 8 pm est game on that date, April 15th. The last teams that play that night that are playoff-bound are Denver vs. Portland, at 10:30 p est -- so it'll be interesting how that last game will influence the standings and what those teams will choose to do with the implications; could be some all-out must-win or must-lose there, depending where the teams want to end up.
What about a game where both teams are trying to throw it?... They just have a turnover fest? How would the NBA govern such a spectacle?... Refs would have to send people over the foul limit and to the line, and even then, they'd be missing wide.
That would entirely depend on the situation we are in, in terms of playoff spot. If we already have 4th place (and hopefully playing the Blazers), then I would be ok with resting the starters. Now, I'm not going to say we should lose the game on purpose, because that is horrible sportsmanship and would be a disgrace to the game, but if Adelman felt he needed to rest his starters (especially Yao Ming) for the playoffs, then by all means he should do it.
If there were such thing known as a double elimination, it would be the Lakers and Jazz. Two teams I hate with a passion. Or let one get embarrassed in 1st Round and then let one get swept in the next.
This would be a dream, but highly doubt. We play New Orleans in the 1st and we sweep or 4-1. Portland plays the injured San Antonio, PO win the series 4-2. LA plays UT, LA wins 4-3, but is banged from the dirty plays and flopping of UT and some of the games goes into overtime. This can be possible because UT's bench as been consistent while the LA has not. In the 2nd rd we play Denver and we win 4-1. The worn out LA meets PO and surprisingly PO pulls a upset and wins 4-3. We play PO in the WCF and we win the conf title.
I'll be happy enough to get out of the 1st round, IF we can go all the way to WCF I'll be thrilled and pumped up for next season.
