this made me laugh for some odd reason. i like how people forget how it comes down to winning 4 games against 1 team in 7 games.
These are the teams that I think the Rockets can beat in the first round: the Hornets, the Blazers, and the Spurs. The Mavs may prove to be a tougher matchup than you think. The f'ing Utah j*zz is just matchup hell. We would have a chance against Denver if they play them (unlikely to happen). And the Lakers are just better than Houston.
Let's just focus on the first round....and go from there. We haven't one a first round series in forever, and now people are already penciling us into the western conference finals.
how will the lakers lose to spurs that has no manu ginobili? look at last year, spurs had manu (although he was hobbled, but the only game the spurs won that series was the game that manu did something useful), and again no bynum/ariza. so one more year on td's creaky knees is going to allow spurs to beat lakers this year?
Mavs seem to be playing great. If they peak at the right time, I can even see them giving the Lakers a run for their money.
i wouldn't mind seeing Houston face Portland in the 3rd round either. as for the fourth round, i don't really care who it is, but Orlando would be sweet.
I can't believe it but if the ball bounces our way a few times, the rockets can go to the WCF. It's unbelievable because it's basically all about match-ups, despite many who will say "the best will always come up on top." Miami was not the best team in 2006, fyi. Spurs would have RAPED them.
This is dumb, stupid, badly worded and even more poorly thought through. So you just said that the 2 worst matchups for us is the Lakers and the Jazz, we are currently 4th, putting us against one of those teams if we make it to the SECOND round.... So how are we making it to the WCF??? Come on, this is why I had to make a new account in the 1st place, commenting on stupid threads like this one. This time I learned my lesson, kept it PG all the way! If you just feel the need to make a thread to boost ur Internet confidence, go to the "Unsorted" board and put useless information there!
As I wrote in another thread, unless Utah falls to the Warriors or Clippers, it will be impossible for them to fall to 8th unless we lose to either New Orleans or Dallas. And if we lose one of those games, I doubt we pass the Spurs.
First off, the only team I honestly feel we can not beat in the playoffs is the Lakers. Our best chance at beating them is if they have Bynum playing, and even then the chances are slim. So, with that being said, the Jazz dropping to the 8-spot would be perfect because they have the best chance at beating the Lakers. It would be tough (because I hate the Jazz) but I would cheer for them to take out LA. As long as the Lakers are out of the playoffs, the entire race is open. Of course, we would still have to beat our first round opponent, which is a hell of a lot easier said than done.
Can you smell 2007, Gstate over Dallas.... Utah over LA...... I wish, but it won't happen. UTAH HAS ONLY WON 2 GAMES ON THE ROAD AGAINST WEST PLAYOFF TEAMS.
I'm not saying they would beat the Lakers... I'm saying they have the best chance of the possible matchups. I know their about their horrible play on the road.
