I wouldn't say I'll quit watching, but I won't go out of my way for it. To answer the OP, yes, I'd root for the Cavs. My in-laws are mostly from the Cleveland area and are dying for some kind of championship. Plus, I'm not really sure how one dislikes LeBron James. He really seems like a genuine guy who doesn't take himself too seriously...and is the best basketball player on the planet. If it's not the Rockets from the West, I actually want the Lakers to be there. I want LeBron to leave no doubt as to who the best player is.
If the Rox lose, I'm pulling for a Laker/Cavs final. I want to see Kobe get punked by the younger, bigger, faster, stronger LeBron. Think about it: Who else for the Lakers can guard LeBron other than Kobe? If he is 1st Team All Defense, he HAS to guard LeBron. I don't want to see it for the novelty of the old days (Magic vs. Larry vs. MJ). I want to see it because LeBron will abuse Kobe every night. Kobe needs a big slice of humble pie, and LeBron is just the guy to give it to him.
remember, we got nothing to lose. so it there's tears it should only be tears of joy for making this far without our top 2 players. ONE thing. I'm very excited to see Lakers and Denver IN ACTION. This is going to be excting because I'm sure Kobe can't pull his antics against these thugs. And, if ever Lakers make it to the finals, the only way to beat the Cavs is to play dirtier than what they did against our Rockets. And if they come up on top, the world will witness that Kobe is indeed a whateveryouwannacallit... But I don't think the Nuggets will let them pass the finals without pain..
I'd rather Denver win it. Generally I like the Lakers but not after this series. I also think the Cavs are a tad bit overrated.
I feel less hatred toward Rafer... 1. Rockets 2. Cavs 3. Magic 4. Celtics 5. Nuggets 6. Lakers I agree Mavs don't deserve to be on there... they should lose tonight.
Nuggets all the way. I love Billups. I like Cavs from the standpoint that they epitome of teamwork. I like Lebron for his talent and personality. But I think Lebron is a wuss for not being in the dunk competition in his early years. All the supposed "non-one dimensional" dunkers did it early. Some mentions are Dr. J (ABA), Nique, Jordan, Drexler, Kobe, Carter, and yes even T-Mac. If he wants to be considered in that elite list of superstars, he should have entered. I'm sure he will be included since he'll be entering the 2010 competition (after 7 years). It's not about him winning but more about participation and being competitive. Love of the game right? He takes it too much as a business instead. Who's he going to go against? Nate Robinson? Better late then never I guess. Hope he follows through on his claim. But ya....Nuggets all the way if we lose.
I'd root for Cleveland also. I'd also want the Lakers to reach the finals only to lose, that'd be awesome, sending Kobe packing after going so far.
My order of preference (assuming Dallas is dead): 1. Rockets 2. Magic 3. Cavaliers 4. Nuggets 5. Celtics 6. Lakers
I'm with you, I like the Nuggets team. LeBron is cool but overexposed, Kobe is the best player but to arrogant, I don't like Boston and don't care for Orlando. So go Nuggets, if the Rockets lose.
i put money on the celtics, rockets, or lakers to win. I did this a while ago, but I hate the celtics and the lakers, so even if those two teams win at least I will make some money, and if they lose even better.
Ah, I see. Well.. of course I won't quit watching.. I love basketball too much just to stop watching because the Rockets lost (due to injuries IMO). I can't be that down to not watch playoff basketball.
Despite the fact that Stern does rig most of the series, Lebron and co. getting to the finals and even winning would be straight up legit. Lebron is just too damn good to not win it once he gets there , with or without Stern's unsolicited help. I'd be leaning towards rooting for the Cavs if we're out Thurs. Nuggets, nah. Just can't see myself rooting for them. Never been a big George Karl fan, never been a Melo Fan and the rest of their thuggish team. Aside from Billups, I don't believe I can bring myself to root for the all-thug squad.
Hardly. While it's the perfect scenario for Stern, the Cavs are just damn good. They don't have many "star" players, but they've got an all-world player with Lebron and that alone would carry most teams to their respective conference finals. Throw in some outstanding team chemistry and a good supporting staff and it's not a stretch for them to be perennial finals members.
I'd be rooting against the Lakers until the Lakers lose. I guess they're the team that I love to hate right now.
I'll be rooting for the Cleveland Lebrons if we go down tomorrow. and slightly for the Nuggets. Not only to beat the LA Kobes, but I'm somewhat of a COF. (Chauncey only fan)
